GCSE and IGCSE Results Day 2023 is upon us!

Schools have now received the results for this year’s cohort, as of 23 August 2023, and schools are allowed to release GCSE and IGCSE results to individual candidates from 11am UAE time (8am UK time) on Thursday 24 August 2023. Expect the majority of this year’s results to start coming through after lunch time as schools welcome students into school to celebrate their achievements before releasing information to the UAE Media.

9:00pm:  And that is a wrap… We have covered as many schools as the SchoolsCompared Team could cover in two 15-hour days. Thank you to all the schools that have contacted us to celebrate their amazing students. For those we did not manage to cover today, our sincerest apologies. We will do our utmost to return to your stories over the coming week. All that is left to say is a very big, very sincere and deeply-felt “Well Done!” to all the UAE’s GCSE students this year – you are amazing;  all the teachers and school’s leadership who have had to redesign their schools, ground-up, over the last two hears to support you – and, last but not least, all the parents who have never, and will never, lose faith in the amazing gifts of their children. 8:30pm: GEMS Wellington Al Khail students have wowed parents and teachers with beyond-outstanding results in this year’s GCSE examinations. However, it is the stories of students individual journeys against the odds – and their fortitude in the face of adversity, that is such a credit to them and their wonderful school. 7:30pm: Jebel Ali School has secured stellar examination results – but it is the value added score which has added 1.2 grades for each student above their predicted flight plans to GCSE that stands out above all else as so telling of this much-loved British school in Dubai. To meet the predicted grades of students is hugely creditable – but to exceed them by a full grade is both exceptional and suggestive of absolutely brilliant teaching faculty and a school that simply knows its children and plays to their strengths. 6:30pm: GEMS Education British flagship Jumeirah College has again achieved the beyond-outstanding with its first publication of ALPS scoring. No school in the world could better achieve for students. Read the extraordinary full story here.

5:00pm: The BSO and KHDA Outstanding, Top Schools Award-winning Dubai English Speaking College, has today announced beyond-outstanding results for GCSE – results that catch the wave of equally outstanding results announced two weeks ago on A Level and BTEC results Day 2023. 2:30pm: The English College rejoices in some surprisingly strong results, despite the ominous warnings of grade dips from exam boards. See their results in full here. 

2:00pm: Brighton College Dubai is celebrating some spectacular results, with a whopping 76% of students achieving dazzling 9 – 6 grades. However, despite the stellar performance, Brighton College Dubai staff members say it’s the Value Added score they’re really proud of. Find out what score they got here. 

1:30pm: Deira International School has recognised the “spectacular achievements” of its GCSE Class of 2023 with students achieving even against the harsh baselines of 2019 in key metrics. The full story of GCSE Results Day 2023 at this much-loved British-IB not-for-profit school can be read here.

12:45pm: The British School Al Khubairat, BSAK, results are in as students from one of the most respected and loved schools in the UAE reports another year of outstanding I/GCSE achievement. You can read the full results, and story, of the BSAK GCSE Class of 2023 here. 

12:35pm: The multiple award-winning Safa Community School in Dubai has announced the results of this year’s exceptionally gifted students in both GCSE and BTEC examinations. Speaking with SchoolsCompared.com, an ebullient Adrianne Deacon, Assistant Headteacher – Key Stage 4, explained how this year’s students have “displayed unwavering commitment to their GCSE studies” in a school powered by happiness and the passion of its parents and teachers. 12:09pm: GCSE Exam Boards’ grade boundaries have now been released! Was your mark close to a higher grade? Should you think about appealing? Find out here. 

12:01pm: Brighton College Al Ain, the ADEK outstanding British curriculum UAE powerhouse, has announced that its students have achieved exceptionally in this year’s GCSE examination. The Brighton College Al Ain GCSE Class of 2023 broke records as almost 50% of students achieved A* Grades and 65% of students achieved. Read our full report here.

11:12am: GEMS Education finishes off the summer exam season with an incredibly strong set of results from across its network of more than 3,600 students at its British curriculum schools. A whopping 66% of students achieved the equivalent of A* – B grades (9 – 5 in the new grading system), despite the warnings that top grades would be far harder to come by this year. 11:00am: Raffles International School Dubai has shared the extraordinary results of its students as they shatter the glass ceiling of pre-Pandemic 2019 results against all conceivable odds. Read the full story here.

6:00pm: This is the second year of the new IGCSE and GCSE grading system, which sees the alphabetic A*, A, B, C etc. system being scrapped in favour of a numerical grading scheme. But it’s not a straightforward conversion – find out how the old alphabetic grades translate into the numerals, and why it was changed, here.

1:00pm: GCSE and IGCSE grade boundaries are more important than ever this year as stricter marking schemes will mean up to 300,000 students missing out on expected top grades. Find out where and when you can see the exam board grade boundaries for 2023, and if your mark is close to a higher grade, whether it’s worth you appealing your grade here. 

10:00am: GCSE and IGCSE Results 2023: What can we expect? Many students sitting for their GCSE or IGCSE examinations may well feel like a UK government statistical experiment as grade boundaries are toughened up this year to fight Covid grade inflation.
