“… except for a video screen, classrooms are bare. The learning environment is generally bleak.”
KHDA. School Inspection. 2016-17
This is an almost impossible school to review. In many ways H. H. Shaikh Rashid Al Maktoum Pakistan School (HHSRAMPS) operates in a parallel universe to education elsewhere in Dubai. The KHDA points out that this is not the fault of parents, or students, who are passionate about securing a quality education. The problem stems, for the KHDA, from the school and the inability of its owners in recruiting sufficient numbers of qualified teachers – or to manage a school that meets even the most basic requirements of a [...]
The Ambassador School – Dubai presents quite a complicated picture for review. As it stands, in isolation, it is a KHDA “Good School” with children achieving a “Very Good“ level of attainment and progress across core subjects in English, Science and Mathematics. Care and protection of children is “Outstanding.” It is worth however understanding some of the background to the school to put this in context. Overall, the picture is a good one.
First, the school traces its roots back to a different school, established in 2010, under the franchised brand GIIS in association with the Kalwani family.
GIIS provided the basic expertise for the Kalwani family to establish [...]
“In the business of education, you must focus on quality. Schools must not be run for profits, and whatever you earn from the school must be invested in increasing the salaries of teachers.
I believe in providing value education and holistic development of the child at an affordable cost.
I can tell you that if I were to double my fees, I wouldn’t lose a single student because that is the kind of standard we have set.” Dinesh C. Kothari, Pro-Vice Chairman, Delhi Private School – Dubai (KT)
“The USP of the school is our deliberate focus on encouraging students to have a moral compass: to have a sensibility greater than themselves and to have a philanthropic [...]

The story of the Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou Ecole Maternelle [LFIGP-EM] is almost completely aligned with the appointment of the school’s current Principal (La Directrice) Saadia Hachid. Appointed in September 2013, in just one year she oversaw the transformation from KHDA “Good” to “Outstanding” school status, the creation of a dedicated Maternelle school focused exclusively on educating young children between 3 and 6 years of age (Petite Section de maternelle (PS), Moyenne Section (MS) de maternelle, Grande Section (GS) de maternelle) and the redevelopment and renewal of the old school to create a genuinely, child-focused, [...]

The school claims a capacity for 1,400 students and has published plans to increase this to a capacity of 2,400 students through the opening of new buildings. The school currently, however, has a role of 977 [...]
“BCCS Dubai in DIP Dubai Investments Park will be our company’s flagship school. Our company has been in the education business for over a decade, currently operating 2 schools in Egypt, and launching 2 more schools in 2018 in New Cairo.” Karim Mostafa, Vice Chairman of British Columbia Canadian School Dubai
An ideal candidate for the British Columbia Canadian School is a student who values education for its true essence and not a desire to memorise facts and figures for an exit exam. BCCS students will include the full spectrum of abilities and will be students who will develop into life-long learners that value the process of learning as well as the mark that comes at [...]

“We aim to develop each one of our students into true learners, individuals who always seek to broaden their perspective and to face life’s challenges with courage and conviction.
Education is a pursuit that goes far beyond a qualification. While we aim to help our students excel in the course they are studying, we also hope to instil in them a thirst for learning throughout their lives. At The City School, our teachers, students, and parents work together to realise this goal.”Dr. Farzana Firoz, Chief Executive Officer, City Schools (Pvt.) Ltd.

The Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls, established in 2000, is the founding school for what has, since 2015, been a group of two schools, one for boys, one for girls operating under the same brand and mission of the “Sheikh Zayed Private Academy”.

““At Merryland, we celebrate the wedding of traditional forms of education with white hot technology. But we do this bearing in mind the universal truth that the ultimate aim of education is to form men and women of character who shun evil and fear God. We stand by Victor Hugo in this regard: “When we open a school, we close a prison.” Susheela George. Founder. Merryland International School.
It is difficult not to be inspired by the founder of Merryland. It’s not a strange place to start a story, because if a school is founded, as is the case here, by an owner driven entirely by a care for children and their future, there is simply no better [...]
“I am extremely proud of our achievements here at Foremarke. Our pastoral care not only aims to prepare our pupils for any challenge they may face in their future but also shapes them into true Foremarkians; children with common sense, who are aspirational and respectful and most importantly, children who will enjoy their education. Our unique small class sizes set us above all other academic institutions in Dubai, allowing for a truly tailored approach for each child. Additionally, children benefit from specialist teaching from Nursery up to Year 6 and this approach is reflected in our latest academic achievements, which has put us well above international standards in all areas of [...]

Taaleem’s The Children’s Garden [TCG] offers for its children both a childhood and education. There are three pre-schools. The first opened in the Green Community in 2005, this followed by the Jumeirah 2 pre-school in 2009. The latest, The Children’s Garden, opened in Al Barsha 2 in 2012.

First thing to get out of the way, is that we really like this school. There are many significant developments taking place at The Children’s Garden [TCG] that, for us, really showcase how special these schools are – and in particular the extraordinary [...]

Our pre-school guides have been written following requests from parents for us to help make sense of the early years choices facing them in deciding provision for their Child(ren). One concern that has been relayed to us is that parents, when visiting pre-schools as part of their shortlisting, face schools that to some degree seem “much of a muchness,” with children painting and generally carrying on activities that seem pretty standard and similar to what they would expect from simple day care.
In the following, and related Pre-school Guides for the range of alternative curricular nurseries, we explore the differences between [...]

Prospective parents should note that this review should ideally be read in conjunction with our Pre-school Montessori Curriculum Guide which also covers the standards parents must expect from all pre-school provision in the Emirates. Our guide can be found here.
As a rule, reviewing Montessori schools is difficult because any school can use the Montessori brand at will – and claim a Montessori curriculum. The reality in practice is the claims do not match the reality. More often, Montessori is watered down or joined with other curricular approaches in something of a “pick and mix” leaving parents very little means to benchmark provision – and [...]
