“Huge congratulations to all students who have received their GCSE results today.
“Students have performed exceptionally well, particularly in the light of the much discussed ‘return to normal’ grading initiated by the Joint Council for Qualifications and the UK Government.
“Today is about celebrating the incredible achievements of a GCSE cohort that has undergone three years of disruption to their learning during which time they have demonstrated unprecedented levels of resilience, courage, steeliness and mental agility in overcoming barriers to their progress.
“We could not be more pleased as our students move on to the next stage of their academic pursuits and reap the rewards of their exceptional achievements as part of our thriving Sixth Form.
Mr Vizzard continued by singling out special praise for the broader community of parents, teachers and the whole DESC community, without whom today’s extraordinary achievement by students would not have been possible:
“We recognise, however, that we cannot reserve our praise and admiration for the students alone. All of our students have been brilliantly supported by the DESC community and we cannot thank our excellent staff and parents enough for their important contributions to these wonderful results.
Mr Vizzard concluded by speaking of the successes earlier this month of Sixth Form students in their A Level examinations – and with the promise to continue providing all students at his school with the support they need to also excel in whichever pathway they choose.
“These results represent a fitting end to a magnificent two weeks of outstanding academic outcomes and uniquely inspiring personal stories across our student body.
“It goes without saying, however, that we will continue to provide support for all of our students as they embark upon their next chapter as they choose their A level courses; these superb results have served to open so many academic and vocational opportunities for all of our students and we look forward to working closely with each and every one of them in the forthcoming academic year.”
