Dubai Heights Academy to open state-of-the-art new secondary building in 2024
0

Dubai Heights Academy, which has been upgraded to a Very Good rating in the 2023/24 KHDA inspection round, has revealed plans to open a state-of-the-art new secondary building on its Al Barsha site, which will take the British school’s capacity up to 1,800 students.

The building is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 and will see the current secondary students (at the moment only from Year 7 to Year 10) move across from the primary building to a spectacular and spacious 50m long, three-storey glass-roofed atrium with an imposing staircase leading to brand new state-of-the-art facilities.

The building will employ biophilic design, blending lots of natural light from the glass atrium with the natural surroundings outside, as well as a plethora of plants and trees growing inside. The bright and airy atrium will be dotted with diverse seating arrangements and flexible learning hubs, enabling students to learn dynamically, and use the space as they see fit to help with their learning activities. The secondary building will encapsulate the school’s commitment to student wellbeing and holistic education, encompassing drama studios, food tech labs, art and design labs, science labs, computer suites, music suites, design technology labs, sports facilities and a vast library.

Key features include:

✅ Sports hall for basketball, netball, badminton, volleyball and football
✅ Rooftop multipurpose court for basketball, netball and tennis
✅ 35 classrooms
✅ Library
✅ 7 science labs
✅ 4 computer suites
✅ 3 art and design labs
✅ Food technology lab
✅ 4 design and technology labs for product design, electronics, textiles, graphics and robotics
✅ 2 drama studios
✅ 2 music rooms with practice suites
✅ Cafeteria

Dubai Heights Academy already stands out for its exceptional commitment to small class sizes, with a maximum of just 15 students in each class, enabling tailored attention and teaching for every child.

The school has committed to allowing every child to take their chosen GCSE subject – even if there is just one child on the course – and the plan is for the school to offer A Levels and B-Techs once their current Year 10s graduate to Sixth form in academic year 2025/2026. The school is currently in the process of hiring a raft of new staff for the secondary school, all of whom are UK trained.

Dubai Heights Academy fees range from Dh38,675 in FS1 up to Dh60,688 in Year 10. This represents good value for a British school in Dubai, especially considering the standard of facilities and the small class sizes. Take a sneak peek at what the new secondary building is going to look like below…
