School leadership and teachers are celebrating the beyond-outstanding achievement of the GCSE Class of 2023 at the much-loved Our Own English High School Al Ain (OOL) today. The school holds a very special place in Al Ain history – you can read more about this here.
This year, I/GCSE students across the UAE, and worldwide, have received results that have endured much harder grade boundaries because of the decision to return grades to the pre-Pandemic levels of 2019. Despite this, and in the face of the many challenges of the Covid years, students this year at GEMS Our Own English High School Al Ain have absolutely shone in their achievement.
A very proud, and beyond-delighted, Rocky Miller, Principal/CEO, GEMS Our Own English High School – Al Ain, speaking exclusively with SchoolsCompared.com, told us:
“Success is not the key to happiness.
“Happiness is the key to success.
“If you love what you are doing, you will be successful, as Albert Schweitzer said – and the IGCSE results and our students’ perseverance in achieving success in the examinations have proven that.
“Congratulations on passing the exam! Your patience and persistence have paid off. Now you are one step closer to your dreams.”

A deservedly happy Miss Malak Ahmed Amin Noaman Mohamed, speaking with SchoolsCompared, explained:
“I am so grateful that I’ve become a topper, as I always dreamed of being one – and I am so excited for the new academic year.
I am so happy with my result and, of course, a big thank you to my teachers, my school, and my family, who supported me during the academic year.
I encourage all the younger students to keep studying… and never give up on their dreams; to keep trying harder, and to enjoy the studying process.”
A delighted Miss Menatalla Alaa Ahmed Mohamed Sadek, speaking with SchoolsCompared, said:
“I’m extremely thankful to God, as well as my family members and teachers. They have never failed to motivate and challenge me into becoming better.
They have always tried to keep me on the right track, whenever I needed help.
I would like to wish every other student good luck.”
GEMS Education, and the leadership of Our Own English High School Al Ain, asked us to celebrate and recognise all the students of the GCSE Class of 2023. They have worked so hard, and against so many odds, the school told us, with all the challenges of the Covid years and the decision to return grades to the much tougher boundaries of the pre-Pandemic years of 2019 and before. All OOL students are an “absolute inspiration.” The following students, pictured above, however, deserve special recognition.
