Foremarke School, Dubai Science Park, Al Barsha South

“I am extremely proud of our achievements here at Foremarke. Our pastoral care not only aims to prepare our pupils for any challenge they may face in their future but also shapes them into true Foremarkians; children with common sense, who are aspirational and respectful and most importantly, children who will enjoy their education. Our unique small class sizes set us above all other academic institutions in Dubai, allowing for a truly tailored approach for each child. Additionally, children benefit from specialist teaching from Nursery up to Year 6 and this approach is reflected in our latest academic achievements, which has put us well above international standards in all areas of [...]

Emirates International School Jumeirah, Umm Al Sheif

Updated December 2016

Prospective parents should note that Emirates International School Jumeirah [EISJ] is, in fact, located in Umm Al Sheif. The school has also been known variously as Emirates International Private School, Emirates International School and Emirates International School Um Suquim which adds to the confusion.

The school, together with Emirates International School Meadows [EISM], together comprise the Emirates International School [EIS], although to all intents and purposes, notwithstanding their shared ownership by the Al Habtoor Group, they are separate schools with independent leadership.

Parents historically have chosen between the two based [...]

Dubai International School Al Quoz, Al Quoz 1

Updated December 2016

Dubai International School Al Quoz [DISQ] is the sister school of Dubai International School, Al Garhoud [DISG]. Together they comprise the Dubai International School [DIS]. Whilst the schools refer to themselves as campuses of a single school and, notwithstanding that the schools share common ownership, curriculum and values, the Dubai inspectorate treats them separately.

There is some merit in this as there are differences between the schools both in terms of facility provision, school transparency, delivery on the ground and leadership from the school’s respective Heads.

As of 2016-17, both schools achieve a basic “Acceptable” rating by [...]

Raffles World Academy, Umm Suqeim 3

Updated December 2016

Raffles World Academy was established by Emaar Education in 2006 following negotiation with Raffles Campus, a school management company in Singapore, which eventually led to Emaar purchasing the company and “Raffles International” brand outright in 2007.

The Raffles brand was rolled out to the then “Raffles International School – West Campus”; “Raffles International School – South Campus”; “Raffles International School – North Campus”; and “Raffles Nursery.”

Hartland International School, Sobha Hartland, Nad Al Sheba

Updated March 2017

Hartland International is a school that has launched with many of the teething pains that we expect of new schools opening in the UAE, and is still in the process of working through what has amounted to quite a turbulent start – more on this below. Despite this the school made it to the top 5 of whichschoooladvisor’s rated “Top New Schools for 2015-16,” largely on the back of the schools facilities and its stated aspirations: Hartland International has been established ground-up as a premium, Tier 1, full-phase KG to Year 13 school.

The school has been built at the heart of the newly developing Sobha Hartland Community in Mohammed Bin Rashid [...]

GEMS World Academy, Al Barsha South

Updated April 2017

GEMS World Academy – Dubai (GWA) is a PreK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) accredited school. GWA offers an all-through IB education from the Primary Years Program [PYP], through Middle Years Program [MYP] to the full Diploma Program [DP] for students aged between 3 and 18 years.

As of April 2017, we have been advised that the school will also offer the alternative International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IB CP) from the 2017-2018 academic year. This is an extremely welcome development and something that we believe is a critical element of IB post-16 schooling in order that schools can meet the broadest [...]

The Oxford School Dubai, Muhaisnah 4

The Oxford School Dubai [OSD] was established “Mom and Pop” fashion by the for-profit IQRA Group within a villa in 1986. “50 students and a tiny villa in Jumeirah” was all we had write its owners. The school followed similar establishment of the IQRA’s villa-based Apple Nursery in 1981 in Karama which started with just a handful of students. Today the group also own the English National Curriculum based Apple International School {AIS], the CBSE based Indian Academy Dubai [IAD]and Indian Academy Sharjah [IAS] and the Emirates Tender Care Nursery, together educating over 6,000 students.

None of the IQRA Group schools in Dubai achieve “Good” school accreditation by the KHDA and [...]

The new school has a capacity of 3,000 children and outstanding new facilities compared with an already very good standard of facility provision at the previous school.

The Sheffield Private School, Al Nahda 2

Updated December 2016

The Sheffield Private School (TSPS] is a for-profit, near full-phase English national Curriculum school offering education from EYFS through to (I)GCSE GCE A’ Level.

The school provides insufficient information for prospective parents to benchmark the school in the sector or make a considered decision for considering the school for their children. Information provided (March 2016) is some of the most limited provided by any school in the Emirates, extraordinary for an established school and particularly one managed by a UK qualified Principal.

Information gaps include

Dubai GEM Private School, Oud Metha, Bur Dubai

Updated December 2016

If Dubai GEM Private School was magically transplanted into modern buildings and facilities, it would almost certainly be a KHDA Outstanding school. This is not a school typical for its value sector.

Opened in 1973 as “Dubai Nursery School and Crèche”, Dubai GEM Private School [DGPS] is a private, for-profit full phase FS-Primary-Junior-Secondary providing a British, English National Curriculum based mixed education from EYFS to (I)GCSE O’ and GCE A’ Level to 2143 boys and girls.

The school, founded by Sultana Rabi, its current owner, began as a typical villa nursery school, providing first phase education to around 20 children from 0-5. [...]

Springdales School Dubai, Al Quoz 4

Updated February 2017

Whilst Springdales has dropped a rating in the Dubai Schools Inspectorate’s 2016-17 Inpsection, we think this school has promise. Springdales School Dubai [SSD], established in 2012-13, is a full phase FS1 to Year 13 for-profit Indian school offering the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum to a mixed, co-education student body.

SSD represents the first school launched by the Goldline Group, a 23-year old Dubai-headquartered multi-national operating in the re-cycling, construction and logistics sectors. Whilst the school is for-profit, its launch for Dr Navjit Singh Anand, Chairman and Founder of Goldline Group, was [...]
