IB Results Day 2023: Ups, downs and handshakes all round at Jumeira Baccalaureate School

by Tabitha BardaJuly 6, 2023

There’s no denying that every exam results day is fraught with a rollercoaster of tension and excitement, no matter how good your grades end up being. The best way to cope with a case of the nerves? Connecting with support systems of course – which is exactly what happened when Jumeira Baccalaureate School students all got together to receive their IB results today.

JBS Principal Richard Drew with an IB student receiving his exam results

Principal Richard Drew – who is also Chair of the IB Heads Association in the UAE – was there to greet any student who was still in the UAE and wanted to come and collect their results in person. There were handshakes all round – a poignant reminder not only of how far things have come since the socially-distanced COVID times, but also of how much disruption and trauma these students have had to deal with over the years.

Mr Drew says:

“Jumeira Baccalaureate School would like to congratulate all our graduating students for another wonderful set of IB diploma results. They represent an outstanding achievement, especially having coped with all the challenges of Covid during their time in school. This year’s results reflect their hard work and tenacity over the past 2 years.”

Michelle Andrews – DP Coordinator, adds:

“As with every year, in all schools across the globe there are ups and there are downs on results day. With our Class of 2023 we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished to get this far. Some students have worked tirelessly, sometimes in challenging circumstances, and are now looking forward to that next step in different parts of the world.

“In addition to the success of students’ academic performance, teachers have shown true commitment, compassion and care to ensure each young adult can be prepared for life beyond JBS. JBS Class of 2023 will continue to be resilient, determined and confident individuals as they have developed the skill sets required to be effective contributors to the modern world.

“We wish JBS Class of 2023 all the best in their future endeavours and hope to welcome them back to our reunion events in the years to come.”

JBS’ IB results reflect growth and improvement in numerous areas, says Mr Drew:

“With a top score of 44 points, a 97% pass rate and average point score above the world average of 30.24, our JBS Students continue to demonstrate excellence and exceeding expectations. The continued growth of the school over the last 2 years of 200 plus students across the school is testimony to the faith parents have that our senior students can achieve excellent results and gain entry to global world class universities of their choosing.”

“Our results are also complemented by a 100% success rate in the IB certificates as well as excellent results in the Career-related Program. I would like to thank the whole JBS community of teachers and parents for supporting our graduating class of 2023 along their journey and reiterate how proud we are of their achievements today.”
