The IB Continuum School caters to the needs of every student from Pre-K to Grade 12, offering the Primary Year Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to develop culturally agile global leaders of the future.

Writing earlier this year, Johnathan Westley, Managing Editor of SchoolsCompared, wrote:

“Arguably the most highly respected American IB school in the world, Dwight School Dubai is managed directly from its home in New York. Globally renowned, the home school has a history stretching back to the late nineteenth century, with an alumni that has written the history books of modern society across almost every sector and industry conceivable. No pressure then for a school that has played such a profound role in shaping our world.

Dwight had a formidable start when it launched in Dubai in partnering with Bloom Education and you can feel those impacts today as it now forges its own path and mission to deliver the best IB education in the emirates. Focus on attainment is matched by a deep-seated commitment to inclusion – it is ultimately child progress that drives the school here. No short cuts have been taken – it would have been easy to be selective to drive the reputation, but this is a school on a bigger mission to deliver an outstanding education for all children, based on their individual potential, needs and aspirations rather than league tables.

In that sense this may be a big brand, but it’s one for every child, not the numbered, or privileged, few.

Of course, delivering an inclusive education is enormously demanding, particularly when, as here, you are carrying the weight of the world to meet the promises of the brand, history and reputation you carry with you. To that end Dwight’s investment in children is second-to-none. To understand what is happening here you have to understand the philosophical underpinning of a Dwight education. Dwight believes passionately that every single child can be a genius in -, make a difference in -, and lead the world in -, one or more areas of life that they set their hearts on. Dwight’s job is to find and nurture this gift – and no Dwight child as a result will ever be left behind. It is a hugely inclusive, compassionate, ambitious and hope-filled vision that refuses to divide up children into achievers and “duffers” – this the de rigueur lens of separating students from each other far too prevalent in other schools – even if one never admitted.

A Dwight education in Dubai also opens doors with a promise from Blake Spahn, Vice Chancellor, Dwight US, that “when you are admitted to one Dwight school, you are admitted to them all.” Almost unheard of, Dwight children in Dubai can transfer seamlessly to any one of the Dwight Schools globally should parental employment require it. At its best, the education here is thrilling, but this level of ambition will take time to deliver to its potential – and we think, on the basis of what has been achieved to date, it more than deserves that investment.”

A very big congratulations to Dwight School Dubai students, teachers and leadership from SchoolsCompared.
