The following are our top-5 schools and Finalists for the 2023-2024 SchoolsCompared.com Best School Award for Post-16 Education in the UAE. Academic and whole child education of children at these schools we rate in many cases as competitively benchmarked against the very best schools worldwide.
All the schools listed, in different ways, provide outstanding breadth of academic, technical (where appropriate) and ECA options for students to ensure that every child can meet his or her individual ambitions, potential, and ability.
Each of them endeavours to provide added value to each child’s journey to ensure that every student leaves school meeting or exceeding baseline academic and whole child expectations. In the most selective schools we have increased our emphasis on their investing in and building an extraordinary, inclusive, wide-ranging and beyond outstanding whole child programme for students that provides an opportunity for every child to be engaged.
In at least one case, we have seen schools creating an entire two-year course structure, including new teaching faculty, for a single child to ensure that he could graduate school with the specific skills and qualifications he required to meet his ambitions. In other schools we have seen pioneering development of a breadth of expensive technical stream BTEC courses to ensure every students’ needs and potential are met. Other schools have shone for academic students with results that better those of the best public schools worldwide. In a number of cases we have excluded schools which are not transparent with their results because we are unable to accurately benchmark them against an equitable standard we have applied to the schools we have commended following. The performance of students in examinations is not our definitive measure of a school, but it is an important part of the picture we build up and of our benchmarking. In other schools, the breadth of subject and qualification ways simply takes the breath away in the promise that every single child will find both the subjects and qualification routes to meet their full potential, all their talents and all of their ambitions.
When we have looked at schools, we have weighted those that plough back investment into facilities, teacher salaries, resources and school improvements year-on-year to improve education for children.
There are a number of outstanding schools that are not included here because we consider them still to be within a phased opening or securing of their post-16 provision. Many of these schools have published their planned provision and will be considered in future years of the Awards.
All of the schools shortlisted endeavour to deliver a benchmark for the best post-16 education for children available in the UAE in their breadth of curriculum offer, pre-university and industry preparation and absolute commitment that no child will ever be left behind. This holds equally true for those academically selective schools we have included in the following – and in many cases they face an equally complex task of managing a pool of exceptionally talented students where a way must be found each and every child to have a sprinkle of stardust and shine in their own right.
Finally, we have looked across all areas of provision, investment, innovation and achievement that support each school being shortlisted.
