When is the next UAE School Holiday 2024? When do UAE schools go back after summer 2024-25? Plus – find your school’s academic calendar online

It might feel like students have had too much time out of school this year what with all the rain days, but nonetheless, many parents are asking: when is the next UAE School Holiday?

The next UAE school holiday will coincide with the Eid Al Adha UAE public holiday 2024.

Eid Al Adha is predicted to fall on Monday 17 June 2024, according to the Emirates Astronomical Society. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, confirmed that astronomical calculations indicate that Eid Al Adha will likely fall on June 17, following Arafat Day on June 16:

The UAE Cabinet has already approved a four-day public holiday from Sunday June 16 to Wednesday June 19 for Arafa Day and Eid Al Adha (coinciding with 9th Dhu Al-Hijjah 1445 AH for Arafa Day and 10th to 12th Dhu Al-Hijjah 1445 AH in the Hijri calendar).

However, the official UAE public school calendar has only marked Monday 17 June and Tuesday 18 June as days off school.

The next UAE school holiday 2024 for UAE private schools therefore is likely to be a long weekend:

Saturday 15 June 2024Tuesday 18 June 2024 (or Wednesday 19 June 2024)*

*final dates subject to official confirmation from the UAE government closer to the time.

When do students return to school after the UAE school summer holiday?

The big holiday coming up, of course, is the UAE school summer holiday.

All schools return from the UAE summer holiday:

Monday 26 August 2024

However, the exact date that your individual school breaks up at the end of this term will depend on several factors.

UAE public schools all break up for summer on Friday 28 June 2024.

However, UAE private schools break up the week later, on 4 – 6 July 2024see below to find your school’s individual academic calendar online. Private schools have some flexibility on the holiday dates they choose, as long as they reach the minimum of 182 days of instruction per year. Many opt to have mid-term breaks earlier in the academic year, and break up for summer later as a result.

Find your school’s academic calendar online

Want to find out the exact dates for UAE School Holidays 2024? Although certain vacation dates are set by the UAE Ministry of Education and cannot be changed, there is some leeway for schools to choose their own dates for staff training days and holidays such as half term and Spring Break. This means that all UAE school calendars vary, and your child’s precise academic calendar will be unique to their individual school.

To find your child’s academic calendar in Dubai easily, and at any time, in just a couple of clicks, use the KHDA service. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) provides every school’s individual academic calendar. Here’s what you need to do…

  • Visit the KHDA Education Directory here.
  • Type the name of your child’s school in the ‘School Name’ box under the ‘Find Schools’ heading.
  • Click ‘Apply Filter’
  • Select the ‘Academic Calendar’ tab to reveal your child’s individual school calendar for the whole of next year.

The results will show the start and end date of the academic year, as well as the dates for Winter Break, Spring Break and the Summer Break.

It will also show half-terms, if your school has these, under the category ‘Other School Holidays’, as well as any teacher training days and predicted public holidays.

Because the public holidays are in line with Islamic holidays (and thus dependent on a lunar calendar that is determined by moon sightings), any dates given in advance are tentative and subject to government confirmation closer to the time.
