The following teachers are our Finalists for the 2023 – 2024 SchoolsCompared.com Award for Primary School Teacher of the Year.
These are the teachers who act as bridges between Early childhood and the enormous jump to Secondary phases of education. Teachers in this sector have an enormously responsible role in ensuring that that “jump” is as easy as it possibly can be. It is arguably the single most difficult inflection point of any child’s journey. Getting it right matters. In so many ways, the future happiness and achievements of children depend on it – and each of them.
In these long years of Primary education, the changes that children undergo are many. These are the years of innocence, happiness, discovery and inquisitiveness. These are the years that children learn so much about the world and how to forge the relationships that will sustain them through Secondary school. Children at the beginning of the Primary journey are so different to those at the end of it. Somehow our Primary teachers have to manage this journey to protect the wonders of very earliest childhood whilst building resilience and the scaffolded knowledge required to be in place for the “Big School” to come. It’s an enormous task, weighted with responsibility and expertise.
