“What an amazing, beautiful school.” So begins just one of the many comments we have received from parents at Al Muna Primary School. It’s a shame that Wayne Howsen, Al Muna’s Head is to move on in September 2018 to the Aquila School, reviewed here – he has been instrumental in its success and will be sorely missed by parents and children alike. This is Aldar’s flagship primary however and we are certain they shall find an accomplished replacement.
Al Muna is focused on the individual and whole child. It is from this that everything stems. To put this in context, some schools focus on whole grade attainment, the aim being whole grade attainment scoring across all children. In an inclusive school, in particular, this can result in children being left behind and a core focus on academics to the detriment of the broader elements – self confidence and awareness, ambition, love of learning for its own sake, happiness, ….values (compassion, empathy and so on).
Extended learning opportunities offer huge breadth with music (in association with the International Music institute)(piano, guitar, flute violin, saxophone) and sport (horse-riding, Jiu Jitsu, sailing ….), for example, complimenting the spectrum of core, intrinsic provision (swimming, aerobics, drama …).
Many parents too are drawn to the security of natural slipstream places to the exceptionally good Al Bateeen or Al Mamoura schools.
The result of the investment in children is an exceptionally happy school (a notable winner of the WhichSchoolAdvisor.com Happiest School in 2016) that offers its children a rich, inspirational and vibrant entry to early years education. And, in so doing, Al Muna Primary School is one that we highly recommend – without qualification.
