It’s fitting with Al Bateen Academy to echo back the simple words of its Principal, David Hutson

“Ours is a beautiful, vibrant, international school.”

Its school values are certainly the most richly thought through and inspiring of any school in the UAE. What, for us, makes Al Bateen Academy so special is its inclusive focus and design of a unique parallel stream British AS-International Baccalaureate model of education to meet the needs, potential and ability of its children.

Many schools in the UAE have planned to offer a dual  curriculum but have gone on, generally to focus on the IB Diploma alone. This has left those less able to cope with the broader range of the IB a choice – either leave, or take on something less suited to them. We hope that Al Bateen Academy will eventually be able to go the whole way and provide an A Level/IB dual track curriculum, expand subject choice at AS Level, and consider introduction of BTEC, but these are early days for a school founded in 2014.

IB Diploma results for an inclusive school have been impressive in 2017 – but this is a school that cannot be examined only on examination statistics. As with other schools here, the shared thread that makes Al Bateen Academy shine is in the bigger picture of whole child provision and care for the individual child.

Parents should note that  Al Bateen Academy is an inclusive school that welcomes all children to its school. Its (in our view outstanding) results should be read in the context of its mixed ability role and its high added value to children in securing grades beyond those projected on entering the school.
