Brighton College Abu Dhabi is celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results today with 38.5% of pupils securing top Grade 9s. 57.2% of Brighton College Abu Dhabi pupils achieved Grade 9 – 8 (A), 75.2% of pupils have been awarded Grade 9 – 7 (A-A), 89.5% Grade 9-6 (A* – B), 96.2% Grade 9-5 (A* -B/C) and 98.9% of pupils achieved a Grade 9-4 (A*-C).

More telling is the value-add score of +1.69, with the quality of teaching at the school driving up student grades by almost two grades above that which would have been expected from the flightpaths established when they joined the school.

Results in STEM subjects are highlighted by the school – over half of all pupils achieved a Grade 9 in the Sciences, in Further Mathematics, of the 17 pupils – the largest cohort in the subject to-date – 94% achieved Grade 9-8, and in Computer Science 100% of Grades were 9-7.

One pupil achieved a clean slate of 11 Grade 9s.

Top Schools Award Winning school

Brighton College Abu Dhabi awarded the Best School for Theatre, Dance and the Performing Arts in the UAE 2021-22

In a day dominated by academic results, it is worth noting that the broader test of an outstanding school comes with the breadth of its subject offer and commitment to extending student learning opportunities beyond Progress 8 subjects. In this light, the outstanding achievements at GCSE today, should be read in conjunction with the equally outstanding investment by the school in broader Arts and whole child opportunities for every child. Brighton College Abu Dhabi was the much deserved recipient of The Top Schools Award for Best School in the United Arab Emirates for Theatre, Dance and the Performing Arts in 2021-22.

Top performing students

  • Stylianos Zuburtikudis – 11 Grade 9s and 1 Grade 8
  • Mert Cemberci  – 9 Grade 9s and two Grade 8s, including a perfect score of 100% in Further Mathematics
  • Aaliyah Vohra  – 9 Grade 9s and one Grade 8

The school has specifically asked, further, that we recognise the four Year 9 pupils who embraced the challenge of sitting GCSE examinations, in Italian and German, two year’s early. Each achieved a hugely creditable Grade 9. Wow!
