Top, Official Private Tutoring Centres In Abu Dhabi

by Jane TalbotJuly 8, 2018
According to The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) 2013 survey, nearly half (47%) of the parents in Abu Dhabi supplement their children’s regular school education with after-school private tutoring. With the majority focusing on the core subjects such as Arabic, English, Maths and Science.

The survey also indicated that many parents utilise the services of unregistered private tutors whose credentials have not been verified. The unchecked tutors may use teaching methods that conflict with the schools, potentially resulting in confusion and a negative impacting on test results. Another area of concern is the risks that come with leaving a child unsupervised in a one-to-one learning space with an individual that has not been security screened.

Using unapproved and unlicensed private tutors outside of regulated companies is actually illegal in the UAE for these reasons.

In an interview with UAE newspaper, The National, Dr Ali Al Jarman, with Prestige Advocates outlined the significant penalties for unlicensed tutors and the parents who employ them – although we have never heard of this actually being implemented.

“They can be charged with illegal employment under a different sponsor, which carries deportation, jail time and a heavy fine,” he said. “The parents can be prosecuted and be fined up to Dh50,000 and face jail and deportation.”

A myriad of studies undertaken across the world have shown that personalised, private tutoring is beneficial in increasing a child’s general confidence and can raise a student’s grades by one and a half times (as outlined in our recent tutoring guide).  And the steady upsurge in private tutoring in the UAE suggests that it has become the norm as opposed to the exception.

SchoolsCompared.com has created a directory of the ADEC approved facilities that provide legal and regulated offline, personalised private tuition in a variety of subjects for students from 7+. The guide is to assist parents in determining which facility would be the most suitable option to meet their child’s individual requirements.
