0

The UAE public holiday will run from Tuesday 27 June to Friday 30 June, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has confirmed following the moon sighting in the UAE today.

This makes for a lengthy six-day break for UAE schools and those who have a two-day weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Schools and private-sector working hours will resume on Monday 3 July.

The sighting of the crescent moon in the UAE on Monday (19 June) marked the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, the last month in the Islamic Hijri calendar. The ministry announced that the holiday for Eid Al Adha for the private sector in the country will start on 9th Dhu Al Hijjah (Arafat Day), which aligns with Tuesday June 27 in the Gregorian calendar, and will end on Friday, June 30.

Schools will resume on Monday, July 3, for just one week, before most schools following the September- July academic calendar break up for the summer on Friday 7 July.

But many parents tell us that they have chosen to take their children out of school early and are not intending to return for that final week after the Eid break. Meanwhile others say that they want to ensure their children completes the full school year, to ensure they do not miss out on learning and in order to get the full value for money of their school fees.

Will you be taking your child out of school early? Or do you think UAE school children don’t spend enough time in school? We would love to hear from you – please email [email protected] with any comments.
