Cranleigh Abu Dhabi Celebrates as 90% of the Class of 2023 secure A*C in their A-Level Examinations and 100% of Students Pass to Graduate to Chosen Universities

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is celebrating the Cranleigh Class of 2023. This year’s students have a special place in the history of British education as the cohort of students most impacted by the British government’s demand that education “return to normal.” In a year in which many students saw grades tumble, Cranleigh students rose to the challenge, achieving extraordinarily, and outstandingly, in the process.

In 2023, the headlines are:

• 44% of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi students achieved A*A
• 70% of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi students achieved A*B
• 90% of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi students achieved A*C

A delighted Tim McConnell-Wood, Headmaster, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, told SchoolsCompared:

“Once again we are delighted with the performance of our Year 13 Cranleigh students.

“Despite facing significant disruptions to their education during the pandemic and operating in an environment of stricter evaluation by exam boards, this year’s cohort has exhibited the kind of resilience and determination commonly seen in more seasoned students when it comes to their exam performance.

“Their results reflect their dedication and willingness to adapt.

“Amid the anticipation built up by media coverage leading to results day, it is truly remarkable that nearly 50% of all grades awarded were in the A*-A category for Cranleigh Abu Dhabi students, and we could not be more proud of their achievements. Throughout their A level journey, this year’s group showed a genuine willingness to support each other, fostering an upward spiral of academic excellence.

Miss Georgia Andrews, Graduating Sixth Form student from Cranleigh Abu Dhabi (Picture above), told SchoolsCompared:

“I feel extremely proud of myself and the work I’ve put in to achieve these grades, and that they’ve allowed me to go forward to study at my university of choice.

“Of course, a massive thanks to all my teachers at Cranleigh, who provided me with the support and guidance I needed throughout my education, and who I wouldn’t have been able to achieve these grades without, especially my subject teachers and the Sixth Form team.

“I’m going on to study Biochemistry at the University of Bristol, and I can’t wait to see what happens!”

Miss Siena Sanna-Martin, Graduating Sixth Form student from Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, continued:

“I was so overwhelmed with my results and it’s a true testament to all the support I got from my teachers at Cranleigh. I can’t thank them all enough for everything they have done for me over the years.

“I’m so excited to move on to my next Chapter at UCL to study psychology – but I’ll miss the Cranleigh community so much!”

Mr Oscar Vaughan, Graduating Sixth Form student from Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, concluded:

“I am very pleased with the results I have received today and am excited that I can move on to my top-choice university.

“I am also very grateful for the guidance and encouragement I have received from the Cranleigh Sixth Form Team who have pushed me to get to places of study I thought were impossible.

“A special thanks to my subject teachers who have endured my endless questions and who never tired of explaining integration for the 7^th time over!

“I look forward to studying Aeronautical Engineering at university and hope it will build a bright future for me, wherever life may lead.”
