Journalists, Heads of Industry, Consultants, Financiers, Barristers, Doctors… Astonishing BTEC and A Level Achievement at GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail Launches the Next Generation of Global Leaders
0

Students at GEMS Wellington Al Khail, to the delight of justifiably proud parents, peers, teachers and school leadership, have beyond-sparkled this year with exceptional achievement at BTEC and A Level. But, tellingly, it is the sheer breadth of professions and Tier 1 universities worldwide that have been secured by students that is most telling of the ambition of this school and its investment in the aspirations and gifts of its children, young men and young women. A defining year in the history of the school, and against quite exceptional odds, this year’s WEK Class of 2023 deserves all the accolades that are showered on them – and more.

Campbell Douglas, Principal and CEO of GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail, speaking with the team at SchoolsCompared.com, could not have been any more proud of his students, parents and teachers:

“It is with extreme pride that we celebrate our students’ outstanding A-level results!

“Their achievements stand as a testament to the power of a collaborative community – students, parents, and teachers working together.

“Their unwavering commitment, hard work, and dedication have paved the way for success, propelling them towards their university of first choice, where they will undoubtedly go on to succeed and make a lasting impact on the world.

“We are beyond-delighted for these exceptional individuals, and eagerly anticipate the remarkable paths they will forge.

A beaming Gemma Thornley, Secondary Principal of GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail, continued:

“Huge congratulations to our exceptional WEK students on their excellent A-level and BTEC results!

“Their relentless determination and tireless effort have led to this remarkable achievement. These results set them up for the next chapter of their journey, remembering that the foundation of success they’ve built through these results will guide them through any challenges that come their way. I hope that they embrace the future with confidence, as their accomplishments speak volumes about their capabilities.

“Well done, Year 13!”

Charlotte Robinson, Head of Vocational Studies (BTEC) at GEMS Wellington Academy – AL Khail, concluded:

“We are delighted to announce our third consecutive year of achieving a remarkable 100% student pass rate within our BTEC programme.

“The growth of the student uptake in Technical Education, and our expansion of the BTEC subjects available to them, has paved the way for our students to achieve their aspirations – and at their dream universities.

“Their remarkable achievements reflect their dedication and hard work as well as the support of our amazing teachers who have helped to guide them with such pride.

“As we celebrate this year’s success, we are reminded of the inspiring journey our students have undertaken.

We congratulate the Class of ‘23 on their exceptional performance.”

Outstanding Across-the-Board Achievement of WEK Students in 2023

The leadership of GEMS Wellington Al Khail has asked us to recognise all students this year for their outstanding contribution to the school. Every student has achieved on their own terms and absolutely.

The Team at GEMS Wellington Al Khail explained that each student has their own exceptional and personal story to tell, but the following gives an insight into the different challenges that have been overcome over the last two years:

  • Daniela Djemmo arrived from Russia four years ago with very basic English;
  • Atila Aslan arrived from Iran at the start of Year 12 with very basic English and a verbal CAT score of 72;
  • Khadijah Buksh suffered the loss of her boyfriend, Viggo Sorensen (a former student at WEK). “This had a huge impact on the school, but an even bigger impact on Khadijah. Despite all of this, Khadijah, somehow, managed some amazing grades.”

The following students secured the most exceptional grades, but this does not detract at all from the achievements of every young man and young woman this year.
