Pancake day 2023: TikTok’s viral pancake hack and creative crêpe art to wow kids
It’s Pancake Day today, February 21, 2023, also known as Shrove Tuesday. Pancake Day was originally celebrated as the traditional feast day before the fasting period of Lent – the 40 days on the lead up to the Christian festival of Easter. People would make pancakes in order to use up any leftover fatty ingredients before their Lent fast – a time during which observers would often give up eggs, fatty foods, meat and milk.
Pancake day has a long and ancient history, with recipes for pancakes appearing in books that date all the way back to the 1400s. However, pancake-making has come on a lot since those days! Here, we’ve whipped together some of the internet’s most delightful and delicious-looking pancakey creations, so that you can be inspired to treat your kids this Pancake Day.
