Repton Dubai students end the 2022 – 2023 academic year with phenomenal performances in this year’s International Baccalaureate (IB) final assessments. Achievement is exceptional across both the International Baccalaureate Diploma and International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme.

Students achieved  an average score of 36 points in the IB Diploma Program (IBDP) – a score that compares extraordinarily well with the global average points per student of 30.2 points.

Every graduating student leaves the school with a Repton Passport, a multimedia digital portfolio bringing together all their achievements as a Repton student with their IB results. The Repton Passport can travel with them through their university and industry careers to reflect the inspirational journey each of them has made in these formative years of their lives. Each unique Repton Passport has a cover designed by Art scholars from Repton School Dubai, in conjunction with those gifted in Art and Digital Leaders drawn from across the school. Each cover is unique to the graduating year, and reflects the journey made throughout the two years of International Baccalaureate study. The Repton Passport reflects the investment of the school in its alumni, the network of Repton scholars and global leaders distributed across the world in a vast breadth of industries.

David Cook, Headmaster at Repton Dubai and Chief Education Officer of the Repton Family of Schools in the UAE, expressed his elation at this year’s Repton School Dubai results. Speaking with SchoolsCompared, Mr Cook told us:

“Reptonians, once again, have shown their dedication to achieving academic excellence and passion for Repton’s core values through their results. A delighted Adele Taylor, Director of Sixth Form Repton School Dubai, said to SchoolsCompared:

“This year our 2023 cohort demonstrated superb performances in the International Baccalaureate final assessments. This cohort of students made significant progress, achieving on average 4 points above their expected grade.

Our students have performed well above the global average points which is a testament to the hard work and dedication the students have given to their studies.

These results have enabled our top-performing students to go on to study at world-renowned universities such as St Andrews, University College London, Durham, and Boston University.

Repton students are graduating with qualifications that have enabled them to reach their full potential and achieve their individual ambitions. This includes studying Medicine for our aspiring doctors; studying Mechanical Engineering for our aspiring engineers; and, Law, for our aspiring giants of the legal profession.

Students on the Career-Related Programme have achieved tremendous success. 100% of students passed the BTEC course, 50% of which scored at the highest level of Distinction* and Distinction.  Our Career-related Programme students have achieved the pick of university places worldwide, including at Durham, a member of the top Russell Group of universities in the UK.”

Lee Walkingshaw, Head of Sixth Form at Repton Dubai on the IB Class of 2023 on IB Results Day

Lee Walkingshaw, Head of Mathematics Repton Dubai, extolled the achievement of the 2023 graduates in Mathematics:

“Mathematics is not just about being able to solve equations and do calculations. This subject creates skills which are transferrable, including problem-solving and logical thinking – a key focus of the IB Mathematics courses.

The Class of 2023 have continually impressed us and shown their dedication and passion to the subject. They have also, creditably, helped our younger students develop their own skills.

We couldn’t be happier that several of our students are going on to study in the field of Mathematics at University. We hope they provide inspiration to the next cohort of students who have seen what it takes to be successful in this subject and the doors it has opened the Class of 2023.

A very well deserved congratulations to each and every one.”

Abigail Barton, Head of English at Repton Dubai, continued:

“We are delighted with the progress that our IB learners have made over the last two years. The students have challenged their perceptions, personal ideas, and themselves, to become well-rounded critical thinkers. They have studied a wide range of literary and non-literary texts that will prepare them for the next step in their educational journey.

Our students have successfully won places at some of the most prestigious establishments of learning in the world and we are thrilled to have played a part in their success.

My colleagues and I in the Department of English at Repton School Dubai wish them every possible success in their future endeavours.”

Student Voices from the Repton School International Baccalaureate Class of 2023

“Being the Head Boy of Repton for the 2023/24 academic year has served as a memorable experience, one filled with lessons, development in character and maturity. As I bid farewell, and ready myself to begin my Mechanical Engineering journey, I am grateful for the support and guidance provided to me by my teachers.

Achieving 41 points in my IB Diploma and securing a place in UCL would not have been possible without the teachers here at Repton. They have been pivotal in my academic success and growth.

I am excited to begin this new chapter in my education as engineering, in particular the mechanical aspect, is a passion of mine that I have been able to further explore through individual research and conversations with my Physics and Mathematics teachers.

I could not speak more highly of the school that has nurtured and helped me grow over the last 13 years.

I hope to make the school proud in my future endeavours.”

Pierre Touma. Head Boy. Repton School Dubai.

“As a graduating IB student, I am thrilled to announce that my journey at Repton has culminated in becoming the highest achieving Emirati of my cohort with 38 IB points.

Throughout my time at Repton, I have been fortunate to receive substantial support and guidance from our dedicated faculty, who have consistently challenged and inspired me.

Reflecting on my years at the school, I am proud to say that I have made the most of the numerous opportunities it has provided, including engaging in Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and participating in various events and leadership positions.

I am truly grateful for the transformative experience at Repton and excited to carry the knowledge and skills I have gained into my future endeavours at New York University, Abu Dhabi.”
