UAE Opening Schools

Schools in this category are not yet open, but opening usually in the next academic year. Opening schools are most likely to have places for new students, and obviously the latest facilities. Often opening schools will also have a 'founders discount' on school fees.

These positives will usually need to be balanced against risk: This will be a school where every process will be a new one. There will inevitably be teething pains. This can be mitigated to some degree if the school is part of a larger group (for example, GEMS) or part of a brand (although parents need to assess how close to the original brand the school is).

Fees of new schools also tend to be higher.

Lycée Français Jean Mermoz, Business Bay, Al Quoz

Updated December 2016

Prospective parents should note that Lycée Français Jean Mermoz is due to open in September 2017.

Jean Mermoz (9 December 1901 – 7 December 1936) was a French Aviator, explorer and adventurer whose association with French schools worldwide stems, in part, from help that he received from a teacher as a young man of 19 to achieve his ambitions to fly. A French (and Argentine) hero, he was known as a pioneer in aviation, in particular in flying unexplored routes between South America and Africa, losing his life eventually in a plane crash over the Atlantic from which neither his body, nor the plane were ever recovered.

His courage, ambition and [...]

Kent College Dubai, Meydan City, Nad Al Sheba

Updated December 2016

Kent College Dubai is the second campus of Kent College, Canterbury, United Kingdom. The school is insistent that it is neither a franchise, nor a school run simply under a brand – Kent College is the “real deal”. The school is managed in partnership with the UK as a second campus and the aim is that, to all intents and purposes, children attending the Dubai campus should experience the Canterbury experience – and changing between schools, when and if required, should be relatively seamless.

Culturally the UK context provides for a caring Christian family community based on a Methodist school foundation “with religious education a strong feature of [...]
