IB Results Day 2023 at Raffles World Academy
Raffles World Academy faculty today shared with SchoolsCompared their enormous pride in the achievements of their graduating Class of ’23 students – outstanding achievements that have been hard won across the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme and International Baccalaureate Courses Programme. Raffles World Academy is a deeply inclusive school – and one we have found to be an exceptionally happy one.
The school is rare in offering students the opportunity to study for the complete breadth of IB qualification pathways. This is a year in which all IB students have faced quite exceptional challenges from the decision of the International Baccalaureates to return grade boundaries to pre-pandemic levels. It is in this context that the school is so jubilant at the beyond outstanding achievement of all its students. Their final results are indicative of the significant added-value brought to their journeys by the school’s passionate and conviction-led educationalists and teachers.
An elated Timothy Roberts, Principal of Raffles World Academy, told SchoolsCompared:
“At Raffles World Academy we strive to provide an education where all students are given the opportunity to achieve. We work closely with parents to foster a spirit of community to ensure each child achieves their best.”
These results represent the outstanding effort and dedication our students have displayed over the last two years.
It is also a recognition of our hugely talented teachers who have delivered above and beyond over the last two years for these remarkable Raffles World Academy students.
The IB Diploma is a particularly challenging pre-university entry programme. To see so many of our students achieve well above the world average makes me incredibly proud.
I wish them every success as they continue their studies at their first-choice university.”
Pam Parasram, Deputy Head – Academics of Raffles World Academy, continued:
‘’Our students, and their families, should be so proud of their achievements. The Class of ’23 have been put through the rigour of the highly demanding IB programmes – and achieved so outstandingly today.
They have made us proud with their results – and I cannot wait to see these talented young men and women flourish in their future studies and careers.
Well done!”
Stephen Anil Pinto, IB Diploma Programme Coordinator at Raffles World Academy, concluded:
“The holistic, world-class education that our International Baccalaureate qualification pathways provide our students at Raffles World Academy Programmes is in my view the best of any qualifications available in the world.
The success of all our students is evident in no small part by their success, today, in now securing their first-choice universities.
During their time at Raffles World Academy, our students have developed important life-skills, international mindedness and, importantly, a caring nature. These will help them transition into the “real world” beyond the home that has been their life at our school – and each will stand them in good stead for their university study and careers ahead.
I am confident that they will excel in both.
This is a proud day for them – and our school.”
Amazing Raffles World Academy students
Alice Gazel, who scored an outstanding 41 points in the International baccalaureate Diploma, will be attending Erasmus University in the Netherlands (Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam) to pursue undergraduate study in International Business Administration.
A justifiably delighted Miss Gazel told SchoolsCompared:
“Studying for the International Baccalaureate Diploma seemed to take forever; often it seemed as if there was no time to even take a break or catch the smallest breath! However, it has taught me the value of both resilience and patience. You do need to have both to complete projects and go ‘the extra mile.’
I have learned that, however hard it gets, no effort is ever in vain. If you put in the effort, and strive for success, you will succeed. We can all succeed.
I am incredibly proud of my success. But I am also equally proud of the success of my fellow students.
I wish each of them the very best for the journeys ahead of each of them.”
Rhieya Rahul, who scored an outstanding 40 points to earn the International Baccalaureate Diploma qualification in 2023, will be attending the The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) to study for an undergraduate degree in Medicine.
Miss Rahul told us:
“I am immensely thankful to my friends, teachers, and parents for their unwavering support throughout this journey.
Without their assistance, I would not be the person I am today.
Throughout my high school experience at Raffles World Academy, the IB Diploma Programme presented me with an unprecedented level of challenge and rigor. It has had a profound and enduring impact on me and the way that I appreciate, and understand, the world.”
Yuv Luthra, who also achieved an outstanding 41 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma, will be attending Erasmus School of Economics in the Netherlands to pursue a joint honours undergraduate degree in Economics and Econometrics.
Mr Luthra told SchoolsCompared:
“It has been such an amazing experience being part of the Raffles World Academy community.
RWA feels like family. I will never forget my time here.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is very challenging, but it is also extremely helpful. Sometimes, without really noticing, I recognise that it has prepared me for even the smallest tasks in everyday life – as well as inspiring me with thinking through some of the most pressing and complex problems of today.
It has been an extraordinary academic journey.”
Salman Amin, who scored 39 points to secure his International Baccalaureate Diploma qualification, will graduate from Raffles World Academy to study at The University of British Columbia in Canada to study for an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. The university is ranked 34th in the world in the 2023 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
Mr Amin told SchoolsCompared:
“I have studied at Raffled World Academy for the past seven years, a significant part of my life. During this time I have built strong relationships with my teachers and fellow peers.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme was a great challenge, but it has undoubtedly too been beneficial for my development and preparation for the future. Studying for the qualification has required me to be diligent, work hard and be self-disciplined. These qualities are reflected in my final points score.
Today is not the end, but the beginning of my new life beyond this wonderful school.”
Learning at Raffles World Academy
Department of English
“Congratulations to the remarkable Raffles World Academy graduating students of 2023.
Our graduates not only excelled in their examinations, but they have also made history as the first year of students to face a return to Pre-Covid standards of grading in the International Baccalaureate examinations. This has been a very tough year for all students, and each of them has had to deal with a plethora of impacts from the pandemic, without the benefit of adjusted grade boundaries to reflect this.
Your achievements this year prove that, even amidst uncertainty and challenge, true brilliance shines through.
Your dedication, resilience, and adaptability have set the stage for Raffles World Academy students that will now follow you. May your achievements inspire countless others to embrace challenges with the same unwavering determination that each have you have demonstrated so powerfully.
I am so proud of you all.”

Department of Science
“Advances in Science have played a vital role in shaping our society. They form the foundations of innovations in both Technology and Engineering, both specialisms that define, shape and transform our world. Raffles World Academy students study Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science. Each, in different ways, provide them with insights into the fundamental laws that govern Nature.
The success of our students in the May 2023 Diploma Programme examination reflects their commitment to excellence – and their depth of understanding in each subject area.
As our Science students leave us to take up their degree level study, they will further develop the knowledge and tools necessary for innovation, research, problem-solving, and many will go on to improving processes across industries. In each of these ways they will all ultimately drive economic growth and societal development in the countries in which they eventually find their home.
Across all Science subjects our 2023 graduating students from Raffles World Academy our students have individually, and collectively excelled. The extended essay students have done remarkably well, with all students achieving grades A to C across all Sciences.
I am so proud of them.
Congratulations to our students. Their performance in the May 2023 examinagtions was no less than stellar.
They are a credit to themselves, their families – and our school.”
