GEMS International School – the Practice of Leaving No Child Behind

GEMS International School – Al Khail has proudly announced a set of outstanding student results for IB Results Day 2024 . Tellingly, and in our view creditably, GIS has highlighted, equally, the achievements of students in both the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Simon Herbert, Chief Executive Officer and Head of School of GEMS International School  Al Khail, expressed his admiration for his students’ dedication and success:

“It is my privilege to celebrate this wonderful set of CP and DP results with our Grade 12 students. Our second graduating class of CP students achieved a 100% pass rate.

“We have seen superb individual outcomes, a result of their hard work and determination across the last two years.”

IB Results 2024 – The IB Career-related Programme

The GEMS International School IB CP cohort saw a perfect pass rate, reflecting the programme’s success and the students’ dedication.

Key achievements and highlights of the Class of 2024 at GEMS International School Al Khail include:

  • Student Highlights: Antonio Bilhim and Esmaeil Bidshari also received BTEC Distinctions, with Antonio heading to TIO Business School for International Business and Esmaeil to Ecole Hoteliere, Helvetique for Hotel Management

Student Antonio Bilhim told

“Moving to GIS in Grade 10 was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I found a community where I belonged and grew significantly.”

Mr Bilhim saw as the key strength of the IB Career-related Programme its “blend of academics and practical skills”:

“It was the right option for me, and I can’t wait to start my new life in Amsterdam.”

IB Results 2024 – The IB Diploma Programme

The 2024 graduating class for the IBDP comprised 63 candidates, an increase from 55 in 2023. Key findings and highlights include:

  • Pass Rate: 78%

  • Dishita Gupta achieved 37 points and will attend the University of Toronto for Commerce/Finance
  • Dhruv Agarwal and Raghavendra Sharma both scored 34 points, heading to Purdue University for Engineering and Virginia Tech for Computer Science with Economics, respectively

A Rigorous Yet Rewarding Journey

Diploma student, Anshi Vijay Manwani reflected with on what has been “a rigorous, yet rewarding journey”:

“The last two years in the DP have allowed me to grow and develop from lessons, which I know I will cherish throughout my life.”

Fellow GIS student Dhruv Agarwal expressed gratitude towards a school that he felt offered him an extraordinary level of support:

“I am grateful for my friends, teachers, and parents who supported me throughout my IB journey.”

GIS Resilience and Stamina for the Battles to Come

GIS DP student Nour El Eslam Mecherek (pictured in our cover photo), a high-level fencer from Tunisia, balanced training with academic excellence. Despite missing the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers due to her IB exams, she maintained high grades and is now aiming for Université Panthéon Assas in Paris, where she will continue to fence and pursue a career in law.

Nour’s journey exemplifies the resilience and dedication fostered at GIS. Her parent echoed this sentiment:

“GIS was the perfect choice, supporting her through a demanding life and helping her grow into a responsible, caring, smart, and strong young adult.”

Opinion: GIS fosters a Dedication to Service

GEMS International School – Al Khail’s celebration of both IBDP and IBCP students underscores the school’s commitment to nurturing diverse talents and preparing students for a range of futures.  The achievements of the Class of 2024 reflect the school’s inclusive approach and the dedication of its students and staff.

GIS Principal, Simon Herbert aptly summarised:

“These students have been dedicated to the service-learning elements of the IB, an attitude which is indicative of the strong and selfless character of the cohort and a fine example to our younger students.

Well done, students, and we look forward to hearing about the next stage of your journeys.”
