The Tony Blair Institute has published a landmark study into the potential shape of British education. In a far reaching, considered analysis that covers the spectrum of issues in British education, many are now focussing on the proposal to scrap both GCSE and A Levels in favour of a single baccalaureate qualification at 18 – and one based on continuing evaluation rather than a “one-shot and your out” examination as currently.
Although the report focuses on England, if implemented its impacts would be felt across British curriculum schools globally – anot not only on the future of GCSE and hitherto “gold standard” A Level.
We will be publishing our views and analysis of the proposed blueprint in the coming days, but we think there is much here that is thought-provoking and important to share with parents. More on our views on the proposed abolition of GCSE and examinations in general can be found here.
