GEMS Metropole CEO announces best GCSE results in school’s history as students praised for achievements in Triple Science and Economics
0

A delighted GEMS Metropole Chief Executive Officer and Principal, Nav Iqbal (below), speaking with SchoolsCompared, has announced the best GCSE results in the school’s history – results quite remarkable given the context of moves by the UK qualifications regulator to strengthen grade boundaries and the many challenges that Covid has brought to the lives of children at his school. Headteacher of the Secondary School, Daniella Aschettino (picture below) also emphasised the extraordinary achievements of Metropole’s Year 10 students who sat GCSE examinations one year early. One student achieved a Grade 9 in Chemistry, one a Grade 9 in Physics and two students achieved a Grade 9 in Greek. GEMS Metropole students were, simply, delighted and… awestruck (main picture).

Nav Iqbal, Chief Executive Officer and Principal, GEMS Metropole School – Motor City, told SchoolsCompared:

“Congratulations to our students for an amazing set of GCSE results at GEMS Metropole School.

Students have achieved our greatest set of school results so far.

Their strong leadership skills have been so evident in all their learning – and their ability to persevere through the hardest times.

GEMS Metropole students have, collectively, shown impressive grit, to deliver this outstanding set of results after two gruelling Covid years.

We are all proud of each and one of them across our whole school community.”

Daniella Aschettino, Headteacher – Secondary, GEMS Metropole School – Motor City, continued:

“Well done to our GCSE students who have achieved an excellent set of results!

Particular highlights, for me, include Triple Science, where 88% of grades were 9-7, and Economics where 73% of grades were 9-7.

We are really excited to see these students begin their A-Level and BTEC journey, where they can continue their success with our school next year.”

“Congratulations to all our GCSE students, who have performed incredibly well and delivered a stellar set of results.

Our students are surpassing the UK national average and every single one of them, regardless of their grades, should be proud of their achievements.

Their excellent set of results will stand them in good stead as they move on to the next exciting stage of their academic journey at their schools.

These GCSE results bring to a close an impressive school exam season that has seen pupils from across GEMS’ different curricula put the challenges of the pandemic well behind them and press on towards their aspirations with a positive and confident attitude.”

Students celebrate

Speaking with SchoolsCompared, Shazia Maskati, told us:

“My exam experience definitely had its difficult moments, but the overall experience has been a learning curve and has taught me so much for the upcoming years.

I am so pleased with my results and am excited to study Business Studies, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and English Literature at Metropole School.”

Syed Qasim was insistent on praising his amazing teachers:

“I really enjoyed my exam experience – words cannot do justice to the support that I received from my teachers and family. The regular study sessions really helped me.

I am proud of myself and I am looking forward to pursuing Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics A-Levels at Metropole School over these next few years.”

Yasmine Hamzeh, highlighted with SchoolsCompared the breadth of her now planned A Levels, these extending across the Sciences as well as English. The school does not make you choose between Sciences or the Arts at Sixth Form as some do.

“My GCSE experience was quite challenging and required a lot of commitment and hard work – but I enjoyed it nonetheless!.

I am absolutely thrilled with my results – and grateful to see that my hard work paid off.

I feel ready now for GEMS Metropole Sixth Form!

I  will be studying A-Levels in Chemistry, Mathematics and English Literature.

Munam Ahmed, concluded, speaking passionately about his ambitions in industry and how important it was for him that Metropole Sixth Form offered A Level options in both Economics and Business:

“Although my exam experience was stressful, I feel really happy, and relieved, with my GCSE results.

I am now so excited to continue to study my favourite subjects for A-Level at Metropole School, which are Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics and English Literature.”
