2022 has seen Taaleem’s Jebel Ali School (JAS) students fighting back following the disruption of the pandemic; this was the first time the school completed an examination series with 47 students sitting over 400 examinations.
In a mood of palpable celebration and joy, students learned that of all examination entries for GCSE submitted, almost a quarter were awarded the highest possible result – a Grade 9. Just under half of the results at this historic British curriculum school saw students achieving Grade 8 or above. 1
100% of Jebel Ali School students achieved 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics, this opening the door to their graduation to Sixth Form.
However, it is the school’s teachers that we think deserve very special recognition this year.
On average, Jebel Ali GCSE students achieved over 2 grades above their externally validated target grades at GCSE per subject. In practice, students and teachers working together, delivered the impossible – a school in which students achieve two clear grades higher at GCSE than predicted by their flightpaths. This is genuinely remarkable and a real credit to a school deeply committed to academic and SEND inclusion.
Simon Jodrell, Principal of Taaleem’s Jebel Ali School, told SchoolsCompared:
“I am delighted to be able to congratulate the Year 11 students at Jebel Ali School on their GCSE results today.
The commitment, determination and dedication shown has been incredible, and today they have been rightly rewarded with a set of outstanding results which truly reflects their efforts and achievements.
As a school we look forward to welcoming these students into the Sixth form at Jebel Ali School, and are confident that the diligence demonstrated will help them thrive in their A level studies.”
Stephanie Milner, Vice Principal of Taaleem’s Jebel Ali School, continued:
“A huge well done and congratulations to all of our Year 11 students on their outstanding exam results.
Their hard-work, determination and resilience has truly paid off – and all of the staff at Jebel Ali are extremely proud of all that they have individually achieved.
We wish them all the best in the next phase of their academic journey – and look forward to sharing their continued success and future achievements.”
Stephen Green, Secondary Headteacher, Taaleem’s Jebel Ali School, was insistent that students be celebrated:
“Congratulations to all our Year 11 pupils on their hard work in achieving such great results under the rigorous GCSE exams.
Their results conceal the true merits of the broad education that Jebel Ali School provides and they now move onto the next stage of their education as well-rounded individuals with compassion, resilience and commitment, willing to push their own boundaries.
We are so proud of them all and look forward, with both excitement and anticipation, to seeing what they can achieve in the Sixth Form here at JAS.”
Scott Brown, Deputy Headteacher Secondary – Academic, confirmed:
“We are very proud of our Year 11 students today.
They thoroughly deserve this fantastic set of results for all of their hard work.
As a group, they have overcome many challenges – and the resilience they have shown in the face of adversity during the last 2 years is… incredible.
For me, it is not just celebrating the students getting grade 8s and 9s today, but the journeys each and every student has been on, and the JAS magic that they have created in the process.
Nearly a quarter of these students have been part of the JAS family for over a decade and I cannot wait to see them all in the Sixth Form next week to celebrate all of their individual achievements.
Finally, a massive well done to all of our students in the younger year groups that achieved their GCSEs via early entry.
Their commitment to studying a course in their own time is commendable. They should be delighted with gaining these qualifications early.”
Andrea Mossoni, Head of Year 11, Taaleem’s Jebel Ali School, emphasised:
“Congratulations to all Year 11 students on this amazing set of results. It has been an incredible journey and, despite all the difficulties, you have all shown determination, hard work and curiosity.
As your Head of Year, I am extremely proud of each and every one of you.
You have grown up to be a group of mature and responsible young adults and have achieved what five years ago seemed to be an impossible goal.
Today’s success marks the beginning of an exciting future for you all. I am looking forward to seeing you all on your first day in our Sixth Form where we will start building on your next successes.
Well done, Year 11!”
Sian Davies, Assistant Headteacher Sixth Form, Taaleem’s Jebel Ali School, concluded:
“Huge congratulations to all of our incoming Sixth Form students on your amazing results.
It is such a pleasure to see you all being rewarded for your hard work, determination and resilience.
You are a historical cohort: you have travelled through the difficulties of Covid with enthusiasm and perseverance – and you have survived and thrived through constantly changing circumstances.
We are very proud of every single success story, for every student.
We hope that you are as excited as we are for Monday 29th August, when we will be welcoming you to JAS Sixth Form for our Year 12 Induction session.”
