Exclusive. Which Media to Launch First “UAE Teacher of the Year” Award at The Which School Show 2020.

Parents and students to nominate teachers that made the difference for the SchoolsCompared.com Top Schools Awards 2021

Sunday, 1st November 2020 ~ Which Media have today announced that they will launch the first “UAE Teacher of the Year Award” at the Which School Show 2020. The Award will recognise teachers who have “made a profound contribution to the lives of children.”

The UAE Teacher of the Year Award will be presented on stage at The SchoolsCompared.com Top School Awards, the region’s annual recognised awards for all those in education, in November 2021.

Nominations can be submitted only by parents and students.

It is the first time The Top Schools Awards will include nominations from parents and students, and the first time an award will be presented for an outstanding teacher who has made a difference to the lives of children.

Parents and students will be able to choose the teacher that they believe has made an extraordinary impact on their lives – and explain why the teacher should be a recipient of the region’s most prestigious award for outstanding teaching.

The final recipient will be decided by an independent panel of expert judges drawn from the ‘who’s who’ of UAE society after shortlisting by the Editors of SchoolsCompared.com and WhichSchoolAdvisor.com.

One student and their family from those who nominate a teacher at the Which School Show on 7th November 2020 will receive tickets to the Awards event of the year and overnight accommodation in a five-star hotel.

Parents and students will be able to complete nomination forms between 10:00am and 4:00pm at the SchoolsCompared.com Stand in the Main Hall. The Which School Show is the first fully virtual School Expo to be held in the UAE and is designed to help parents find the best school for their children.

James Mullan, Co-founder of The Top School Awards commented:

“These are the most important awards for all those in education across the UAE. It is time that we now recognised teachers who play such a vital role in the education of all our children. The What School Show, the region’s virtual Education Expo for parents, is the perfect place to launch what for many will be the single most important award of the evening.”

David Westley, Co-founder of the Top School Awards, continued:

“We all remember that teacher at school that ‘rocked our world.’ We all remember those teachers that made school matter – and which made learning inspirational.

It is those teachers that we will be recognising at the Top School Awards next year. We look forward to welcoming parents and students to the SchoolsCompared.com stand at the What School Show to make their nominations on the 7th November 2020.”

James Mullan concluded:

“Since its founding in 2011, Which Media has been recognised for its profiling and celebration of UAE teachers. WhichSchoolAdvisor.com’s long-running ‘Teacher Tribute’ interviews at LitFest, for example, concluded with Isobel Abulhoul, Iain Rankin & AC Grayling interviews each addressing the central role teachers played in their careers and writing.”

Why wasn’t it done by emirate rather than a whole country especially since the award does not seem to be monetary in any way? #inclusivity

Hello Abier. Thank you for your comment. The UAE Teacher of the Year Award is open to nominations for outstanding teachers that have made the difference for children in every emirate. We did not think it made sense to divide teachers by where they teach. #all in this together. This is one of the awards presented at the Top Schools Awards – and every one of the awards reflect the Emirates, our shared home, as a whole, together.
