Brighton College Al Ain GCSE pupils have been celebrated by their school, colleagues and parents in another year of outstanding results at one of the best schools in the emirates. Students achieved a higher percentage of Grade 9s than awarded in 2019 and the results follow on from stellar A Level results achieved by Brighton College Al Ain’s young men and young women last week.
Remarkably, one in every four GCSE exams taken this year by Brighton College Al Ain pupils resulted in a top Grade 9.
Set in a 28-acre campus on the outskirts of Al Ain, Brighton College Al Ain offers a British curriculum education to pupils aged 3 to 18 years. It is the only school in the city to have obtained two consecutive Outstanding inspections by ADEK, first rated Outstanding in 2016, and then again in 2018.
Scott Carnochan, Head Master of Brighton College Al Ain, told SchoolsCompared:
“In a year when the media in the United Kingdom last week referenced a drop in the number of top examination grades being awarded to pupils, it is wonderful to be able to report for the second time in a week, following our A Level successes, that Brighton College Al Ain pupils have again been awarded a higher percentage of top grades than in 2019, when in-person examinations were last taken.
Given the journey these pupils have had to navigate, this is a phenomenal achievement.
I could not be more pleased for our pupils.
I am exceptionally proud of what our pupils and teachers have achieved and would like to both congratulate, and thank them, for their hard work and determination – and for the resilience they have demonstrated whilst working together to achieve these excellent results.”
Overall, almost 60% of Brighton College Al Ain pupils achieved awards between Grade 7 and Grade 9.
In the Sciences, 63% of pupils achieved awards between Grade 7 and Grade 9) and, in the Humanities, 77% of pupils achieved awards between Grade 7 and Grade 9.
