Bloom World Academy and Global Village announce winners of Young Directors Awards competition

9 year old Mark Mit and 13 year old Sana Tehzeeb Sajin, have been selected as the winners of The Young Directors Award competition, receiving full school scholarships worth over AED 1 million to the International Baccalaureate curriculum Bloom World Academy. Bloom World Academy is the first fully progressive community school in the UAE offering an education mapped, A to Z, around the ambitions, potential and passions of children and the needs and aspirations of their families.

The Awards were announced during a special award ceremony held at the Kids’ Theatre in Global Village yesterday.

  • Mark Mit won the Junior Category of the Young Directors Awards.
  • Sana Tehzeeb Sajin won the Senior Category of the Young Directors Awards.

Entrants were tasked with creating a short video under the theme “My more wonderful world”. The videos showcased the story of what they, or someone they know, would do to make the world a better place, or how they are already helping to build a more positive future.

The videos were evaluated by a panel of judges that included Saeed Aljanahi, Director of Operations, Dubai Film & TV Commission; John Bell, Principal, Bloom World Academy; Nyla Usha, actress and host of The Big Breakfast Club on Hit 96.7; Emirati Director Nahla Al Fahad; and, Dubai Eye 103.8 radio presenter, Helen Farmer.

A delighted John Bell, Principal of Bloom World Academy, told SchoolsCompared.com:

“We have been Incredibly impressed by the entries that we have received and want to thank each and every family that has taken part in the Young Directors Award competition.

We have seen some exceptional entries which have filled me with hope that our young people really will make an impact on the world and help build a more positive future.

Congratulations to all who participated, and we are very excited to welcome Mark and Sana to Bloom World Academy.”

Maya Joud, Senior Manager – Brand & Campaign Marketing at Global Village, explained:

“We are thrilled to have received such an overwhelming response from talented young filmmakers who showcased their creativity, passion and ability to inspire.
We are delighted to collaborate with Bloom World Academy in providing these scholarships, and we look forward to seeing how the winners will continue to make a positive impact in their communities – and beyond.”

Winner of the Senior Category, Sana Tehzeeb Sajin, responded:

“I’m really happy to be here today and truly grateful for the opportunity to study at such an amazing school.

There aren’t many opportunities for filmmakers or actors my age out there and this competition really helped me learn more skills and it paid off at the end. I’m forever thankful for Global Village and Bloom World Academy.

Winner of the Junior Category, Mark Mit, continued:

“It feels amazing to have won this award.

I’m very excited to join Bloom World Academy where they will help me learn the skills I need to reach my dream… of creating games in the Metaverse.”

The competition was launched by Bloom World Academy and Global Village to celebrate the International Month of Creativity. Global Village also collaborated with several experts in the industry to host educational workshops to help the students prepare and finalise their submissions.

Located in Al Barsha, Bloom World Academy opened in August 2022. The school is the first in the United Arab Emirates to have a later school start time of 9am and offer a flexible school day that allows for student learning to be in balance with family life. Bloom World Academy offers all families a customised education where students can create their own timetable tailored to their passions and interests.

Worth noting that Bloom World Academy is, for us, one of the most exciting school launches in the UAE over the last decade. Led by an extraordinarily inspirational Principal in the shape of John Bell, our direct experience of the sense of community at the heart of Bloom World Academy, its knock-on impacts on child happiness and engagement – and the passionate engagement of students, teachers and parents in Music, the Performing Arts and creative pursuits in particular, has swiftly seen this school placed on our Best Schools list of those schools we recommend, without qualification, for parents seeking a top tier International Baccalaureate education for their children.

So, fasten your seatbelts, grab the popcorn…..

A very big well done to Miss Sajon and Master Mit for their resourcefulness, imagination and compassion in creating films to be very proud of indeed.
