Students in the UAE are set to receive their Cambridge International IGCSE, O-Level, AS, and A-Level exam results today, alongside more than 630,000 students from 140 countries. This marks a significant moment for families in the UAE as they plan the next steps in their children’s educational journeys.
Exam Results Around the World
This year, Cambridge International saw an 11% increase in the number of students receiving exam results, with a total of 631,248 candidates—the largest number ever recorded by the exam board. In total, Cambridge International processed nearly 1.6 million exam entries, reflecting a 9% year-on-year growth.
Out of these entries, 631,405 were for AS and A-Level qualifications, taken by 316,008 students in 3,143 schools spanning 128 countries. Meanwhile, 956,100 entries were for IGCSEs and O-Levels, with 295,972 students participating from 4,581 schools across 140 countries.
Global Growth in Exam Entries
The highest number of Cambridge International exam entries came from the United States, China, and Pakistan, with increases of 21%, 17%, and 7% respectively. The UK also contributed significantly, with 58,000 entries.
For the first time in several years the exam board has released IGCSE, O-Level, AS, and A-Level results on the same day, a change implemented in response to feedback from schools.
Rod Smith, Group Managing Director for International Education at Cambridge, highlighted that the increasing number of entries underscores the growing demand for international education. He also extended congratulations to the students and praised the dedication of teachers who supported them.
While core subjects like the sciences, mathematics, and English remain the most popular worldwide, there is notable growth in other areas, indicating that schools around the world are expanding their curricula.
For instance, entries in Environmental Management rose by 36% at IGCSE and O-Level, and by 30% at AS level. Global Perspectives also saw a 15% increase at IGCSE and O-Level, and a 17% rise at AS and A-Level. Additionally, Marine Science entries grew by 26% at AS and A-Level, while Computer Science saw a 14% increase at IGCSE and O-Level and a 19% rise at AS and A-Level.
