New school exclusive – Al Yasmina Academy landmark new campus and school coming in 2024
“The new Al Yasmina Academy will be one of the most exciting and dynamic school developments in the history of the UAE – and one of the most architecturally and sustainable premium facilities in Abu Dhabi.
We cannot express enough how worthwhile this wait and transition will be to the families and students that are part of this journey to our new Al Yasmina Academy school and campus.”

Build, timelines, location and history
Aldar Education has announced a new home for its much-loved Al Yasmina Academy in Dubai – and the aim is to redefine the landscape of Tier 1 education in the UAE. Headlining the new school and campus development is the addition of the first Tier 1 Premium purpose-built Post 16 Education Centre in the UAE – one focused on the very different needs of students as they study in their pre-graduation years and prepare for university. Architect designed, and spread across a landmark 45 acre site in the Heart of Khalifa City, the new Al Yasmina Academy school and campus will open in two phases:
- Phase 1 will open in August 2022 for children in FS1 (Nursery) and FS2.
- Phase 2 will open in August 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Work on the new development is already underway and the school.
One welcome decision was the choice of Aldar Education to locate the new landmark within a stone’s throw (around three minutes) of the existing school. Aldar Education told us that in all its decisions, the needs of its families and children “always come first.” The Group was set from the outset at avoiding building the new school and campus at a distance from the current site, given the choice of many parents to base the location of the homes to be as near as possible to the school. Often in the UAE, new school developments like this are situated miles from the original school, inevitably causing distress to parents. The aim for Aldar Education is that “the transition will be relatively easy” – and the school is deeply committed to comprehensively “consulting with parents”, “seeking the views of our community” and “communicating its findings before any actions take place.” It is likely that there will some introduction of staggered start and finish times as the building of the new development gathers pace and before the eventual full transition of all students to the new school in 2024.
Whilst for younger children, during Phase 1, Al Yasmina Academy will run as “one school with two sites”, Aldar Education is committed to this being the case for only two years.
It is also telling that the new school is being built just thirteen years after the original opening of Al Yasmina Academy at its current site – Aldar Education is known for its not-for-profit ethic that sees continuous investment in its schools.
Aldar Education told us:
“Our dedicated teaching staff will make the exciting relocation as seamless as possible for all students and parents.”

The new Al Yasmina Academy 2024 Facilities
Aldar Education has revealed a number of its ambitions for the new school and campus – but more surprises are expected in the coming years. In the interim we have confirmed a:
- Landmark new Post-16 Centre of Excellence – the first purpose-built, world class, post-16 centre in the region
- State-of-the art auditorium for live theatre and conferences
- Major investment in sport including multiple show-stopper swimming pools headlining extensive indoor and outdoor Tier 1 facilities for competitive and non-competitive sports
- 12 specialist, latest technology equipped, laboratories for the Sciences
- Significant investment in music including dedicated Recording Studios
- Film and television recording studio
- High technology computer suites
- Next generation interactive classrooms
- STEAM focus with full breadth of outstanding design, technology and engineering facilities
Significantly, the development of the new school and campus has not seen the current school site lose out on investment. Aldar Education is forthright about its commitment to parents in the period building up to the move – there has and will be no letting up in investment in the current home of Al Yasmina Academy:
“For those year groups awaiting the transition, we have continued, and will continue to, invest in the current Al Yasmina site.
A new playground, a completely redesigned and refurbished Post-16 Centre, extended and improved parking facilities, a new reception area, and coffee shop, have all been added this year.
However, and most importantly of all, we have continued to invest in the very best teachers from around the world.”
