Updated April 2018 – New schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai that have opened in 2017 – 18

SchoolsCompared.com continually aims to provide parents with the latest information about developments within the ever-changing face of education in the UAE. Our list of the Top 11 new schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 2017 for the current academic year, not only tells you who and where the schools are, and what curriculum and fees are on offer, but also our assessment of their key strengths.

There is no doubt that there has been a slow-down in school openings over the last year, a reduction from 15 in Dubai in 2016, compared with only nine in the current year. New schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai opening this year are fewer still. However, parents seemingly still want choices based on convenience of location, budget, curriculum and other individual factors. The schools on our Top 11 New Schools that opened in 2017-18 list cover a range of different price-points and curricula, including some new and innovative options.

Once again, the majority of school are UK curriculum with five new schools opening across both cities. Interest in the IB programme continues to grow, with one full IB curriculum and one UK/IB curriculum combination. Indian families will no doubt welcome the addition of two new CBSE curriculum schools, giving them an alternative to UK or UK/IB curriculum schools which have tended to dominate the opening of new schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in recent years.

Finally, too, an additional French school will hopefully provide relief for Francophone families still struggling to find places at the limited Dubai options available, and a high-quality, fully accredited US curriculum school opens options for families who prefer their children not to face public examinations until College.
