Kings Nad Al Sheba

The school opened in September 2014 and is part of the Kings’ group of schools in Dubai. The original Kings School in Umm Suqeim is the only school in Dubai to have consistently achieved the Outstanding rating since inspections began. Currently the Kings Nad Al Sheba has 288 students on roll, with the majority being in Foundation Stage. This academic year, 131 students are new to the school. Eighteen families have remained with the school since its opening.

Kings Nad Al Sheba has had a chequered history with two changes of Principal. The current Principal took up his post in August 2016. He has established a new leadership team which is clearly making positive strides. The KHDA Inspection report highlights that the principal, other leaders and all staff have a strong commitment to improving the school and this focus is supporting the development of good learning skills.

Progress in the Foundation Stage and Primary phases are good in all key subjects except in Islamic education and Arabic as an additional language in Primary, where it is acceptable. The personal development of students is very good. The new ICE initiative (Imagine, Create, and Explore) is enabling students to develop good skills of innovation. The curriculum is well designed and adapted effectively to meet the needs of different groups of students. The arrangements to keep students safe and secure are robust, rigorous and successful and the facilities and resources for learning are very good and are used effectively.

Priorities for further development include the requirement for Governors to support school leaders and hold them to account. Leaders and all staff should use internal and external assessment data to identify groups of students who are at risk of underachieving and adjust teaching methods accordingly. Attainment in Arabic and Islamic education should be raised.

With a teacher:student ratio of 1:8 and a teacher turnover of only 9%, Kings Nad Al Sheba clearly offers a very personal and stable environment for children.

The inspectors highlighted that the students’ very good attitudes and behaviour result in a happy and purposeful learning environment where strong and supportive partnerships have been established with parents and are having a positive effect on learning.
