Holidays are coming! UAE schools to close for two days creating 4-day super break for families.
0

UAE schools are likely to close for two days next week in honour of the UAE National Day holiday. For many children, the break cannot come too soon, with students across the UAE finishing their internal mock exams across year groups this week. It’s also a time when many families will be thinking about Christmas shopping as the first sightings of Santa across the UAE come in thick and fast and children begin making their Xmas lists.

The National Day Holiday falls each year on the 2nd December and marks the ‘Spirit of the Union’, celebrating the impact of the unification of all seven Emirates into one extraordinary nation.

The UAE National Day stands for the nationalisation of the British Protectorate Treaties, which were declared in 1968, and falls on the anniversary of the federal unification of the seven emirates in 1972 headed by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the federation’s first president.

The UAE National Day and Commemoration Day 2022 holiday has already been officially announced for the public and private sector. The break will be from Thursday, December 1, to Saturday, December 3 2022. Combined with the regular Sunday off, this makes for a bumper four-day long weekend for UAE parents and children.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the following:

“The three-day official paid holiday is in implementation of the UAE Cabinet resolution on public holidays for the public and private sectors for 2021 and 2022.”

Although the Ministry of Education – which would guide emirates’ individual school authorities such as Dubai’s KHDA – has not yet officially announced that schools will be off for the two days next week, it is highly like that they will be. Schools usually follow the public-sector when it comes to holidays, but it has been confirmed that both the private and public sector will receive these days off in any case.
