Part of the GEMS Education group, Jumeirah College Dubai has achieved outstanding status for 9 consecutive years and has an ethos of developing the whole child socially, physically and emotionally. The leadership team at JC don’t believe in comparing students to average benchmarks. Instead, they prefer to focus on understanding each student as learners and individuals, exploring and embracing every opportunity to encourage and support them in their learning and growth.

With students from over 59 nationalities, JC is a truly international school with a global mind-set. These values are installed the in students, moulding them into successful, well-rounded, and open-minded international citizens of the 21st century.

“The very best schools recognise the importance of both a broad and balanced curriculum alongside the skills young people will need throughout their future. The Arts enable students to develop not only their understanding of creativity, but how to use it alongside such crucial elements as self- expression, teamwork, leadership and empathy. In particular the last few months has shown how these factors are vital foundations to all of society and their enhancement serves us all. “

Marc Morris. Principal and Chief Executive Officer. GEMS Jumeirah College.

“As a head of performing arts, I believe that Augusto Boal (theatre practitioner) says it best when he says ‘We must all do theatre, to find out who we are and to discover who we could become.”

What the Students say about Music

Ad hoc performance by an advanced violin player at GEMS Jumeirah College in Dubai. A strong focus on creative arts and student expression is integral to cultural life at the Tier 1 school.

“The importance of the arts is a growing achievement at Jumeirah College. Being a student of all 3 subjects I experience the support from all my teachers who strive to make sure their students do the best they can. I love studying these subjects at Jumeirah College and I cannot wait what is yet to happen with the arts at JC”. –

Myome Mortimer-Davies

“The arts have always been the one constant in my life. Its volatile nature makes it so. It has taught me confidence, empathy, teamwork and many more life skills that without I would not be who I am today.”

Sydelle

What The Parents Say About Music

“The arts build confidence and help with a child’s ability to be resilient as they can often see things from a creative perspective and realise that situations are not just black and white.  I have certainly seen this in my own children at JC.  What a dull place school would be without the opportunities afforded to them through art, drama, music and DT”.

 Mrs Smith. Parent. Jumeirah College.

What the students say about Performing Arts

Industry skills in lighting and sound production within the Performing Arts at GEMS Jumeirah College is intricately woven into the Creative Arts curriculum to engage all students

“The creative arts departments at JC really give us creative freedom and trust that we will invest ourselves and bring characters, music and art to life.  Being part of school productions helps with stepping out of my comfort zone and is extremely beneficial. Sure most of the time when you try new things you land flat on your face, but the only way to learn is to make mistakes. I think where JC excels, is with its countless extra-curricular activities”.

Hugh

What the parents say about Performing Arts

The Performing Arts are subject to significant investment at GEMS Education's Jumeirah College in Dubai. Here we see students performing on stage through contemporary dance.

“My belief is that the arts are important in the same way any subject is important.  Without the arts in a school curriculum, we are doing a huge disservice to children.  It improves engagement, focus, motivation, aspiration and it gives students the breadth of experience to explore more capabilities, more skills and they fundamentally help to round a person.”

Mr Coulter Parent. Jumeirah College.

“The performing arts department has had the biggest impact on my daughter’s first year at JC. She has thoroughly enjoyed the range of different opportunities from master classes with Arts Ed, performing in school productions and educational trips to Dubai opera. The arts are an essential part of her education and we are thrilled that she has had these amazing experiences at JC”.

Mr Ross. Parent. Jumeirah College.

“The performing arts have moulded Sydelle into a more balanced, vibrant and mature person, with an added zest of empathy, which permeates and shines through anything she sets upon to accomplish as well as speak her mind eloquently to get her message across.”

Sharon Bhalla. Parent. Jumeirah College.

What the Students say about Art

Students, parents and teachers admiring art produced by students across, oils, acrylics and water colour as part of a landmark Exhibition at GEMS Jumeirah College in Dubai

“The Arts have hugely contributed to my schooling this year. My teachers have influenced me in so many ways, and also challenged me to express myself through the platform of performance. I’ve developed life-long skills that have provided me for my education as well as my future”.

Isabella

“You’ll learn more and more about yourself throughout the year; your strengths, weaknesses and the in-betweens. In a comfortable environment where your teachers challenge you to think creatively and find alternative approaches to themes and topics”

Devanshi

What the Parents say about Art

“For our daughter the arts are so important as they restore balance to her life. She approaches life with caution, but her passion for drama allows her to be free of the shackles of academia straight jacket; allowing her to express her true voice”.

Mr & Mrs Hosking. Parents. Jumeirah College.

“As parents of 4 children who have been educated at JC, we can whole -heartedly recommend the Arts Department in every aspect of our children’s well- rounded education.  The Arts has allowed them to explore the modern world; to escape from its stresses. More importantly it has enabled them to create something wonderful to share with others. Some of our greatest innovators and scientists were also gifted in the arts—they too possessed the ability to “think outside the box”. My daughter has enjoyed studying the Arts because it is a means of expressing the way she thinks, that feeling of being able to create something beautiful to share with others whether it be in Music, Drama or Art. Keep up the wonderful work!”

Mr & Mrs Mortimer-Davies. Parents. Jumeirah College.
