Ajyal British School Dubai is a new British curriculum international school with a planned opening for September 2018 in the Al Khawaneej area of Dubai. Al Khawaneej is a largely Emirati populated area, close to Mushrif Park and around a 20 minute drive from the new Mirdif City Center shopping arcade. Ajyal British School is the second of two new planned school for Al Khawaneej, the other being the alternative US curriculum Al Mawakeb School, reviewed here. Both schools are likely to target local families.
Ajyal British School Dubai will offer an all through education for children to A’ Level. Details are currently scarce, however, on the number of subjects and type, that will be offered at either IGCSE or A’ Level. We do know, however, that there will be, at a minimum 14 subjects offered at IGCSE, to include English, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology (ICT), Arabic, Social Studies, French, Geography, History, Art, Information Technology, Design Technology, Music and Physical Education.
Limited information on the type of school parents can expect can be garnered here from our provisional review of Ajyal British School Dubai’s sister, Ajyal International School, in Mohammad Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi.
Ajyal International School is the second major new school established by the newly established Bin Omeir Education Foundation. The Foundation was set up by Mohamed Omeir Bin Yousef Al-Mehairi, owner of the Bin Omeir Holding Group, as a means for the Group to significantly invest in the development of human capital in the UAE.
Fees are premium, running from around AED 40,000 at FS1 to AED 80,000 at Grade 13. It is likley that the school will offer scholarships, an initiative that deserves much credit currently being offered by its sister school:
