A “best School in Dubai in the making”, it is really hard to know where to begin with Safa Community.
In this case the story probably does begin with the leadership of its owners, Sameer Merchant and Louay Khatib, who set up Safa Community School as a labour of love with an ambition to pass the school through their family in generations to come. The owners’ children are educated at the school and the investment in making a perfect school shines around every corner.
Leadership at the school is exemplary and the partnership between Leanne Fridd, Headteacher – Primary and Stephen Duckitt, Safa Community School Principal, in delivering an inspirational learning and broader whole child environment for children is no less than an inspiration.
Second, design. Wow! It’s an Antoni Gaudi inspired affair with curves in abundance and the image is one of sailing ships catching headwinds in an adventure of learning. Wherever possible corridors are replaced with wide open spaces, light floods the buildings and the detail in terms of vistas and terraces and facilities is just both professional and, well, deeply impressive.
The school is in phased launch, but promises A’ Level subject breadth will compete with the best in Dubai. Safa Community School Head, Stephen Duckitt, speaks earnestly about having found, finally, a home for his view of education that is fundamentally and to its core focused on individual children – and where no barrier is too big to be overcome in meeting his, and the owners’, ambition to deliver Dubai’s best school.
Safa Community School is one that deserves visiting to understand what has been created in such a short space of time.
