Founded in 2005, Al Nibras International School was the first to open in Dubai Investments Park (DIP). The school claims a capacity for 1,400 students and has published plans to increase this to a capacity of 2,400 students through the opening of new buildings. The school currently, however, has a role of 977 [...]
“BCCS Dubai in DIP Dubai Investments Park will be our company’s flagship school. Our company has been in the education business for over a decade, currently operating 2 schools in Egypt, and launching 2 more schools in 2018 in New Cairo.” Karim Mostafa, Vice Chairman of British Columbia Canadian School Dubai
An ideal candidate for the British Columbia Canadian School is a student who values education for its true essence and not a desire to memorise facts and figures for an exit exam. BCCS students will include the full spectrum of abilities and will be students who will develop into life-long learners that value the process of learning as well as the mark that comes at [...]

““The Sheikh Zayed Academy is one of the most exclusive and prestigious schools in the region.” Sunny Varkey. Chairman. GEMS Education
Updated November 2016
The Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls, established in 2000, is the founding school for what has, since 2015, been a group of two schools, one for boys, one for girls operating under the same brand and mission of the “Sheikh Zayed Private Academy”.
Both schools are bi-lingual American curriculum schools that have are part of a growing cluster of schools seeking to provide both a traditional, faith-based curriculum for its children that nurtures a love, knowledge and respect of/for Arabic traditions, [...]

““At Merryland, we celebrate the wedding of traditional forms of education with white hot technology. But we do this bearing in mind the universal truth that the ultimate aim of education is to form men and women of character who shun evil and fear God. We stand by Victor Hugo in this regard: “When we open a school, we close a prison.” Susheela George. Founder. Merryland International School.
It is difficult not to be inspired by the founder of Merryland. It’s not a strange place to start a story, because if a school is founded, as is the case here, by an owner driven entirely by a care for children and their future, there is simply no better [...]

The International School of Creative Science [ISCS] is a new Arabic-American dual curriculum faith school launching Phase 1 of its provision in Nad Al Sheba 3. The school is situated in the prime education corridor between Kings School Nad Al Sheba and Repton School on a circa 11-acre site.
The school has been established with the single aim of balancing the best of Western education, and its currency for later university and career development, with the protection, appreciation and nurturing of Muslim and broader Arabic culture, language, faith and morality within its role. It’s an East meets West equation that is far from simple to resolve and [...]

iCademy Middle East is the new name/brand for the K12 International Academy, a ‘school’ first established in Dubai in 2008. Our focus here is on the blended programmes offered by iCademy which combine the on-line teaching of a traditional K-Year 12 US curriculum with a physical location in which students can learn “together”, based in Dubai Knowledge Village.
The blended programme has local teachers (“On-line Learning Coaches”), each holding a minimum Bachelor’s degree and full teacher training qualification, however their role is better described as coaching/motivational/organisational. Core instruction is carried on [...]

There are a number of schools in Dubai that, notwithstanding inspection data, offer a very high level of education for children across all phases and which present very little difficulty in securing our recommendation. Dubai British School in Emirates Hills (DBS) falls into this category.
That DBS is now classified by the Dubai inspectorate as “Very Good” school category (and is a British Schools Overseas “Outstanding School”) merely confirms what parents have known for a long time: Despite the many excellent schools in the UAE, this is a school that any parent interested in a UK based education should shortlist.
The latest BSO report can be [...]
MAE will offer something very, very special for Dubai and the Emirates when it opens in September this year. The school is now open to pre-register children from the age of 8 to graduation. Founding students and parents, in a school so centred on individual children, will play a formative role is establishing the school’s direction, culture and success.
Founded to fill the existing gap in high quality education between mainstream schools and special needs centres, Modern Alternative Education is a new school that we all have a stake in supporting, this despite the fact that it has been designed, ground up for children with Special Educational Needs – and more [...]
Located in Dubai Investments Park, The International School of Choueifat -DIP is the second SABIS® school in Dubai. Our review of the original school can be found here.
Making the decision to Choose a SABIS® school for the education of their child(ren), we believe, should be a considered one, for prospective parents.
There are qualities to a SABIS® education that will draw some parents. But, equally, SABIS® schools have an educational ethos, methodology and approach to each child’s education and development that is not comparable to any other educational curricular option facing parents.
SABIS® school represent an alternative to mainstream education, not a choice [...]

Next Generation School (NGS) Is an Islamic American faith school offering all-through education to students between 4 and 18 years based on a US curriculum underpinned by a significant depth of Islamic study and understanding. The Next Generation US curriculum follows the California State structure, with both Common Core and Next Generation Science standards governing teaching of literacy, numeracy and Science. Prospective parents may want to read our guidance on American Curriculum schools here. Critically, the school is seeking full accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) as well as membership of [...]
KHDA Outstanding, with fees around half those of its competing equivalent Tier 1 English and IB peers, Lycée Francais International Georges Pompidou (LFIGP) is a school that is hard to find fault with. The parent school, based in Sharjah, and established in 1973, it should be noted, is equally as impressive.
In Dubai, LFIGP provision is split between what are, to all intents and purposes, two campuses. The Oud Metha school, offers an FS1-2 Maternelle education to children between the ages of 3 and 6 years, and acts as the slipstream to the main Primary and Secondary school in Dubai Academic City. The DAC campus/school completes each childs education, offering all-through [...]
Smart Vision School is located in the heart of Al Barsha 2 – and, as a new school, Vision stands out for being a school that actually exists in nearly complete form. Prospective parents can actually visit the school – and not have to depend on off- plan drawings in making decisions for the future of their child(ren)’s education.
The English National Curriculum school is now open to applications for places between FS1 to Year 4 starting in September 2016. Phased launch of future grades to Year 13 will follow. Eventually all-through provision will take students through complete all-through British education from the Early Year Foundation Stage (EYFS) to IGCSE and A [...]

GEMS Founders School(GFS) was established as an international UK curriculum school in September 2016, promising a “reasonably priced world-class education” meeting “the high standard of education that GEMS Education embodies.”
Founders offers an all-through English National Curriculum to IGCSE and A Level for students from FS1 to Year 13, between 3 and 19 years.
In build, GEMS advised us, and our sister site, whichschooladvisor, that Founders was being modeled on its family of Winchester schools. This, however, we felt in practice, told us little as the “Winchester” brand covers a multitude of very different schools from the fabulous, [...]
Reach British School is a new (2014) all through FS to Year 13 (equivalent) English National Curriculum school offering phased launch provision through IGCSE to A Level for children between 3 and 18 years of age. Prospective parents should note that the school, somewhat confusingly, works through Nursery, KG1 and 2 to Year 12 rather than using the standard UK school progression from FS1 and 2 to Year 13. we are advised that this is at the insistence of ADEC. The end result is, however, the same.
Fees, at some 22,800 AED to 46,800 AED are mid-tier, even allowing for the generally lower costs of an education in Abu Dhabi compared with schools in its sister Dubai.
Formerly the Varkey International Private School, GEMS Our Own Indian School (OOIS), in its current form, was founded in its move to Al Quoz in 2002.
There are so many good things about this school – and some frustrations.
First, this is not simply a good school. It is in some key respects an outstanding one. This is recognised in the Dubai Schools’ Inspectorate’s awarding of such a broad splay of results. It is not usual for a school to be graded by the Dubai Inspectorate with such diversity – and especially for a school to effectively, in practice, be operating at Good, Very Good and Outstanding levels simultaneously.
The core problems first. [...]

GEMS FirstPoint is a very interesting school in a multitude of areas – and it is also, importantly, a very good one. So what sets it apart. There are two defining features that standout and which we believe will be of particular interest to prospective parents.
First, with FirstPoint, GEMS has set up a Tier 1 premium British School, but set the fees, deliberately, at the very lowest level of the fee structures we typically associate with this class of schools. The following graphic is taken from its own marketing literature:
When you average the fees over thirteen years, the school offers a considerable value proposition for [...]
